I just looked it up. It says that Category 4 means the applicant has given false information on the application form and their application has been declined. According to the FSA, having a CIFAS category 4 marker is even worse than being an undischarged bankrupt when it comes to getting accepted for further credit products!

Ha ha!

No, FOS forced them to apologise and remove the false and inaccurate information they placed on my credit file. I did get compo but I wasnt bothered - I've managed to source a VERY old Abbey account that can be used again so I can get rid of A&L soon once and for all!

Re CIFAS -
I did request a notice of correction re the fraud to be placed on my credit file with a note of the dates, crime ref no etc but for some reason Equifax dragged their feet and didnt want to! I have actually had further credit since then, I've drafted a letter to Sygma but my printer is broke - grrr!
