I've done mine this week and have around 40 items to try and sell. I took everything out and tried it on and made a decision from there. Most stuff is too big, or too small, some is brand new but i've never worn it.
Now i've put back in what i've decided to keep, I do wonder how on earth it all fitted in there previously though!Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

I'd like to join in with this - I'm already on the Great Declutter thread and as a result of that I have started to sort out my clothes. My Mum and sisters had a clothes sortout recently and gave me five bags of clothes, as I've been losing weight and desperately needed some clothes that fit me. I now don't have the storage space for all of this, so need to get rid of more things.
I've lost 3 1/2 stone so far and I would like to lose another half a stone, I've gone from a size 16/18 to 14/16. I'm having terrible trouble finding trousers that fit properly as I'm a pear shape, so trousers that fit the hips/ thighs are too big around the waist.
My other annoyance is that I can't seem to find any comfortable shoes. I don't get on with heels at all, so seem to just wear trainers or plimsoll type shoes and I'm sooo bored of wearing the same types of shoe. I do have some slip on mules that used to be comfortable, but now chafe, but I guess this is because they are now 5 years old!
So I guess my aims are:
Sell clothes that are too big for me/don't suit me, so I can fund my new purchases.
Find and buy some well fitting trousers once I reach my goal weight
Buy some new comfortable summer/winter shoes, and throw out the ancient and uncomfortable footwear.
Know what clothes and accessories I have for everyday wear/ special occasions/different seasons and be able to make an outfit within a few minutes instead of taking 20 minutes to pick an everyday outfit and an hour plus for an event!0 -

You could try grouping the outfits together in the wardrobe and attaching the matching jewellery/belts/scarves/whatever onto the coathanger in an envelope or clear plastic bag. I sometimes wish I could follow my own advice on this one.
About the trousers not fitting: it might help to find rather more wide-legged styles than the slim-fitting ones.
I've just had a massive clear-out in order to pass on some of the nicest things that don't fit any more and it's breaking my heart to say "goodbye" to my dear friends but I think it's best to face up to the truth that I really won't shift this middle-aged spread if I haven't in two years. I'm just praying that the recipient actually likes and appreciates them as I could probably have turned them into cash on ebay if I'd got my a**e in gear.0 -
I instigated a new rule quite a while ago - if I buy something new, something old has to go. I can't quite bring myself to apply it to shoes though. The collection there is still growing <sigh>.
It does apply to handbags and I have got rid of a huge number that I was just keeping "because".0 -

That's a fab idea, thank you. :T
I was inspired to go and get started on the clothes mountain in the spare room after reading the thread, so I now have a couple of items in the charity bag as well as a large carrier bag full for Ebay, and have been able to at least put the majority of clothes away in drawers now.
I still have three drawers full of clothes that are too small, tried on about thirty tops and was able to transfer three tops into my 'main' drawers as they now fit me properly. About seven still don't fit me, but I like them - so they went back into the 'try again after a few more lbs lost' drawer and the remainder went into the Ebay bag as the style didn't suit me or the fit wasn't quite right. I didn't have the time to try everything on today, so will probably have another go next weekend!0
