I'm quite brutal with my clear-outs... I only have one built-in closet in our flat, so I CANNOT buy more than will fit as if I start squeezing my stuff into my OH's closet he'll know the extent of my shopping habit! So, when my closet's looking a bit full I yank everything out into a pile and create four subsequent piles - keep, charity shop, eBay and sister.

My future sis-in-law and I have just decided we're going to New York at Christmas, so will need to do a HUGE clear-out before then! :o
  • Hi there everyone! Its my first post, and I just wanted to say I've got so many tips and ideas for de-cluttering my life (making some £££s on the way!) brousing the forums over the last month or so. When I last moved I too realised just how much clothing I had!! I'm a style advisor for H&M and an experienced ebay seller. If anyone wants tips on selling/buying clothing or tips on outfit ideas, just let me know! Kat x

I thought I had a lot of clothes when I had about 2 double wardrobes and 1 large chest of drawers full.... having 5 double wardrobes full is the type of collection I can only ever dream of!!

I can see why you'd need a clear out though. I can't tell you the number of clear outs I've had in the last couple of months. I've recently moved house, it was getting to the stage where I knew I woudln't even unpack the bags with some clothes in, just leave them sitting in the binliner on top of the wardrobe or under the bed, believeing that I'd open them again to find a top sometime in the near future....
It takes a lot to change that thought though and even now after 3-4 clear outs I am finding stuff that I probably will never wear again but I'll keep it because I do like it or it fitted me once upon a time, so it might again sometime soon... (Yeah right)
I am thinking of having another search though my wardrobes as you guys have done/are doing. Your conversations are putting me in the mind that I want to do it. Try and 'Gok' my wardrobe hehe.
I'll let you know how I get on.

    bah! lost my post :(

Was just posting to say - I don't particularly wish to deprive charity shops, but try to sell items before you pass them on - I've sold so many clothes on ebay that were destined for the nearby charity shop, but I've made a few quid on them instead! (I do shop at said charity shop though ;)) Even high street names. Not everyone lives near a shopping centre / high street, some people find it easier to shop online than trapse round shops...

I used to have loads of clothes, shoes and make up and had a big clear out just before the Summer, I think another clear out is due before the Autumn is here. Got rid of mine between ebay, carboot sale, freecycle and charity shop. :D

I've got drawers too I didn't include them lol :) I use to be a shopaholic now I don't bother so much. Most of the stuff in there has tags on (whoops) and I've just booked a trip to new york so i'm listing everything at £1 hoping that it will go for more. Must have atleast 100 items to list at the moment until I raid the other wardrobes :)
