Ooh I really need to join in this thread, but I'm hoping to lose a bit of weight before buying new2 clothes. All my clothes are now getting a bit baggy, and I'm not feeling good in them. But I really don't want to buy the next size down for them not to fir for long.0

Wow!
Great to hear so many people are inspired to get their clothes and accessories organised. Clearing out has really helped me think more clearly about my stuff when I'm shopping now, I also find I'm taking more care of what I've got now!
lauzjp....I've come very late to ebay, having given lots of stuff to charity shop or Freecycle. I've only been ebaying in the last month and have made a couple of hundred quite easily on decent but not designer/top name stuff. I did very well selling some Bravissimo bras and a bikini...got more than I expected and also sold quite a few M&S bras that don't fit, which was a surprise!
I have to start thinking about Autumn /Winter stuff soon, even though I don't want to, as that side of my wardrobe is really depleted. just enjoying my summer stuff atm

Hmm
what exactly would you have in a capsule wardrobe then?
I am confusedGo hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last0 -
Okay, the weathers poop and i have frequently had to pull a few winters out. Which leaves me thinking i have to really sort out my winters clothes i havn't much (that fits or i like) so i really need to clear out and 'capsulise'. Bought a gorgeous grey wrap dress from the chazza shop yesterday so that's where i will start me thinks, anyone gonna join me???
Sharron xxxSometimes your the dog, and sometimes your the lampost..:p0 -
Hi Sharron
After a mega summer sort out a few months ago, I realised that my winter weekend wardrobe was a disgrace. Lots of old baggy mismatched clothes, everything very dull and dark coloured. (but WARM, cos I really feel the cold!) In an effort to be organised I started a few weeks ago, updating my winter wardrobe. I've bought some lovely warm fleeces from craghoppers (in the sale) They are easy washed, don't need ironed, lovely and warm, and very bright and cheerful. Ideal for relaxing at home during the weekend.
I have also invested in some casual warm trousers. I Have enough "smart going out" winter clothes, (which I do need to sort out), it was my lounging about stuff that was tatty.

A question: Did you have a starting at bid value - or (for free-ness) leave it at 99p and people really wanted your things..?
I ask because I (stupidly) left the starting bid at 99p (cheapskate that I am) and a Monsoon top (Black chiffon funnily enough - see Gok thread) which I thought mIght do well, sold for - well, lets say, SOMEONE got a bargain. Similarly a Joseph Ribkoff dress (that was worth over £200) went for about £15. I'm all for bargains but I wonder if anyone feels a bit cheated when people actually want to pay so little.0 -
Hi GTC
Yes, I feel well put out when something half decent goes for a pittance. On the other hand, I've had some lingerie and some beauty items that have staggered me in terms of what people have paid....not a fortune, but way more than I thought. The luck of the draw, timing and pitching at the right starting price I suppose. I'm still learning!
There's a "Your buying and selling clothes and accessories on ebay experiences" thread on here somewhere!0 -
I find if you put a starting price on, you don't get as much interest in your listing. As a buyer, I'm reluctant to even view auctions with a starting bid as I think 'well, I don't want to pay that!' when in reality, I'd most likely bid above and beyond that price if the starting price was 99p. I think what puts people off is you're asking people to stump up a higher price initially, whereas with 99p people get caught up in the thrill of bidding and the want to win, and end up paying more anyway.
Obviously it doesn't work all the time - as you found with your Monsoon top, GTC! I sold a Karen Millen dress a few months ago, paid £150 for it originally and it sold for £22 which really riled me!0
