Nice trousers Bronnie! The Rhode shoes are supposed to be comfy and non smelly too. I have the clarks cloggy type shoes for work and am totally unimpressed with them. They are almost worn out and I've not had them a year yet. I will look out for some different ones in the sales as I can't carry on with these horrid things!
I finally made about £45 on the 13 items I managed to sell. Clearly don't have as nice stuff as anyone else! Did end up selling a prom dress for 89p in hand though GRRRR!
Crocs have started doing shoes for hospitals and catering etc, very similar. So comfortable, worth checking out?

It cuts down on the washing when I get home, and since the stuff is wearable ( not tat or rags) I hope some one at the hotel can get a use out of them. Occasionally Ive found that something gets worn loads, and I end up bringing it back.

Old underwear that's seen better days gets put in a carrier bag at the back of the drawer. When I go on holiday I take the scabby old stuff and bin it there. Leaves me with room in my suitcase for new stuff or to be lazy and not pack it properly! Always have to remember to take a good pair to wear back, or get stuck with bikini bottoms!
edit - On the holiday theme (rather off topic) I also have a box of sample sizes, lots from the freebies board, which go on holiday with me so I have less to bring back. My skin will put up with anything I use on it, so I'm lucky to be able to do this.Do you need it? Yep. Really? Yes! How have you managed for the last 28 years without it? Erm....

Hi girls, just found this thread and read through.
Really impressed by the work some of you have done!
I'm anal about clearing out rubbish, but I always stick it in my "to put on eBay" box and then leave it there... not good. Am trying to find two Sundays in a row to do the eBaying, and I might be sorted for halfway through August!
(Might give up on eBay and just invite all my girls round one day instead and tell them all to bring a suitcase of their old stuff and do swapsies.)
I have a huge wardrobe, so I can reasonably store loads of clothes, but I think only wear about 5% of it! Probably should have another go at clearing it out since it's been a few months. Some things I can't get rid of though, like the skirt I wore non-stop when I was 17. I've changed shape a bit since then so it doesn't fit properly. I keep saying I'll take scissors and the sewing machine to it, but it just hangs there, forlorn.
So, my inspiration from this thread is to do the getting rid part from my last clear out and make a pile of clothes to fix, and then get on and do it.
So far I have: my favourite jacket to re-proof, the top that gives me boobs (magic!) needs a seam sewing up again, the fabulous skirt and the pocket in my old jeans.
A couple of things I do that might help someone else:
1. Clothes with holes in, particularly tshirts and socks, go in the rag bag in the garage. My brother who tinkers even more regularly than I do is always after more rags. Socks are brilliant for inside windscreens because you can wear them like a glove. Eventually they get soaked in oil and normally end up on the fire.
2. Comfy clothes that are no good for leaving the house in live in a box in the garage for decorating/ DIY/ gardening/ hair dying and car fixing. Then I can have things for all different jobs/ weather and not have to look at it all. Best thing in the box - my old moon boots, leaking now, but so good for car repairs on a cold day! I share this box with my Mother, so if I don't have something I can normally borrow it without too much hassle, and the boys have a shared box too (My Dad's XXL and my bro is S so the results of them sharing are always entertaining!)

Hi all
Thanks to this thread I've now cleaned out my wardrobe :j Bagged tons up for the charity shop, and many items left have now been doubled up on hangers.
I can now slide the hangers across the rail to have a proper look at what's in there, instead of just grabbing the first thing to hand because they're all packed in so tightly that I can't move them!
I'm now left with a couple of skirts, a couple of dresses, a couple of jumpers, 10ish pairs of jeans/trousers,about 15-20 assorted everyday type tops, and a few bits for going out in.
It's very theraputic:T Bargain Hunter Extraordinaire! :T0 -
Well done BHE, it is definitely therapeutic, I am addicted to regular clear outs:D.No Unapproved or Personal links in signatures please - FT30

starting reading this on tues, just finished, all this week i have been chucking and sorting, im the kinda girl that buys all the "bargains" take all the labels off and then decide "no, i don't like it" or " it looks awful, so ive decided to have a really good look at my wardrobe, and have decided most of it was full of $h!tty stuff anywho!! so now ive salvaged; 3 pairs 3/4 jeans, 1 pair of cream linen pants, 4 summer skirts, 1 denim skirt, 8 vest tops, 3 dresses (for holidays), 1 black dress (funerals) 1 pair of everyday black 3/4 pants, 2 pairs of black "going-out pants",4 tunic type tops, and 6 t-shirts, 2 swim-cossies, 3 pairs of shorts, 2 beach dresses, and that will do me for now, im gonna try and not buy or waste my money on any more "bargain clothes", so my summer wardrobes sorted;), nowt for the colder days, months though:mad:,(except for 1 lonesome fleece:rolleyes:). so after my hols in august, gona see what i can find instead of the t-shirts & vest tops, the jeans i will wear in winter aswell, just need a few tops,;). Now to sort out the kids stuff, arghh:mad:
- whoops!! sealed pot opened!!! for holiday stuff, £360, an i BLEW it:D

Hey! Sweetpeanut, I was exhausted just reading that!!
Well done though, great job:T
You're like me, absolutely nothing left to wear now for autumn/ winter. I'm going to wear my summer stuff to death.....am resisting buying any more summer stuff, even in the sales.
The trick for the new season will be to PLAN what I need, not just go out impulse buying! It is easier though once you've got all the carp out of the wardrobe!
Let us know how you get on.....its an ongoing process!

Ive been buying a few things for my winter wardrobe. Ive bought a couple of fleeces (reduced of course) from Craghoppers. There stuff isnt cheap, but it is good quality and washes well. They will be perfect for relaxing on a cold winter weekend.
The one item I always have trouble with is comfortable loose fitting trousers for lounging about in. Jogging bottoms always seem to go saggy, whether I buy cheap ones or more expensive ones. Since I've dejunked my wardrobe I've chucked some tatty old pairs out. I just need some nice warm replacement casual COMFY bottoms for winter. Any suggestions?

hi katie,
Craghoppers do fleece straight leg trackie bottoms - v cosy, modern cut and great for messing about the house in.
Try the craghoppers outlet shops if there's one near you. I go to J32 of the M62 at castleford which is good.
Good luck!
