Nice trousers Bronnie! The Rhode shoes are supposed to be comfy and non smelly too. I have the clarks cloggy type shoes for work and am totally unimpressed with them. They are almost worn out and I've not had them a year yet. I will look out for some different ones in the sales as I can't carry on with these horrid things!
I finally made about £45 on the 13 items I managed to sell. Clearly don't have as nice stuff as anyone else! Did end up selling a prom dress for 89p in hand though GRRRR!
I'd never heard of Rohde before. There were also leather clogs in the Rohde range with little vent holes all over, hospital style in white, navy or taupe. Strangely though, the shape of those was totally wrong for my feet, the arches seemed in the wrong place and my foot didn't feel cradled by the shoe at all....felt like I had them on the wrong feet IYKWIM! The ones I've bought are really comfortable though.0 -
Feel I'm doing well as have got rid of lots of stuff which didn't suit me. Have bought a few things that I feel happy in, but have ended up with a lot less than I started with. Like your trousers and shoes Bronnie.0

I've just sat and read all of this thread and am loving it.
I'm just about to open a dress agency for people just like you who have clothes in their wardrobes (don't we all) that they don't want or need any more. Lots of my current customers (alterations) have been really enthusiastic and have been bringing in lots of great clothes, bags and shoes for me to display.
Thing is, you've all got me thinking now. Maybe I could have a swishing event, a styling for a capsule wardrobe night or even one of those clothing/skin colour tone matching nights.
My mind is buzzing now with all sorts of different ideas, I am sure I am on to a good idea. Does anyone have any other ideas?0 -
Well I finally got stuff listed on eBay from the massive clearout. We sent 2 whole bin bags away to the charity shop and the rest we are selling. Anything that does not sell is going to charity and not back in the wardrobe:rolleyes:
It felt sooo good to get rid of all those clothes. I can honestly say it now takes me less time to get ready in the morning as I can see exactly what I have and can quickly pull together outfits.
Trying to now only buy underwear if needed and not purchase any other clothes until Autumn/Winter comes round. Evne then I will only need a couple of items.
OH also managed to chuck out a heck of a lot too and he actually enjoyed it:p
All the items on eBay have a good few watchers and nearly everything has a bid. I have been using Turbolister which has been great. Just got a couple more things to go on and then that will be everything.
How is everyone else getting on?Spreading the gospel that is Martin Lewis to the future generation....I'm a Home Economics Teacher and being thrifty is the way!:A0 -

Good Job:T
I agree with you, that feeling of despair I used to feel in the morning when I opened the wardrobe and riffled through all that useless stuff every day has gone now! I don't have loads of stuff, but have easily got enough to see me through the summer now and unless I get an unexpected occasion (and I should be ok even for that) I don't intend buying any more stuff.
Am even going to try to avoid buying anything in the sales, except for basic quality pieces that I know I will wear like my Monsoon linen cropped pants that I would like to reoplace. I have got enough stuff and would like to avoid impulse buying for the sake of it.....and have the fun of buying the new styles/ colours at the start of next summer. We'll see if I manage that!
My winter wardrobe however is PITIFUL:o and will need serious attention, I intend giving it more thought and planning, which is where websites are so handy for ideas as opposed to spending hours trailing round the shops, succumbing to temptation along the way! This is where I need to target my clothes spending!
vnmoneysaver..................well done on the sort-out .:T
Less is definitely more....I agree!!
babiebeany.....think your idea is spot-on in this current climate, are you operating from home or do you have premises....I knew someone who did this years ago from home for maternity wear!
Think your other ideas for 'events' are great too...a good way to spread the word about your business and great for people like me who are struggling to get their heads round ebay (pathetic, I know!)0 -

This is a great thread0

Five tops went into the charity bag today.
Two are too small and three don't suit me.
No idea why I bought themprobably just because they were reduced so 'a bargain' - not.

This thread has been amazing - six bin bags to the charity shop later I can now fit all my clothes in my wardrobe
I even am planning outfits ahead - it's not quite 'capsule' but is certainly more streamlined
