    It's on the BBC too.

Nice bit of business for Utd I'd imagine. How much did they originally pay for him?

£14m I think, perhaps they will pay some debt off!

Madrid make a habit of buying 'stars' that have already peaked, it will be interesting to see what happens this time.

I was thinking along the same lines, 80m is a good price and he is unlikley to improve so it's not as if they have 'undersold' him but there is always the possibility that he has reached his best and may even decline slightly in a couple of years. He will still get frustrated at Real as I am sure they will also 'rest' him as Man u did much to his annoyance.

Let's not forget football is not just a sport it's also a business.

Ronaldo is a great loss to United. Considering the return they've got from Berbatov in terms of goals for £30 million. Also a loss to the Premiership as a player I'd happily pay to watch (and I'm not a Utd fan).

    £12 million

600% growth on an investment! Who wouldn't cash that in?

I wonder how many teams will be raided over the next few months by Utd with that sort of money in their Sky Rocket?

I'm glad to see the back of him, silly winker. Now if only a foreign club would put in a bid for Drogba, the Premiership would be a much better place.

[09:02 EUR/GBP: GBP 80mn Ronaldo Transfer Adds Weight] London, June 11.

Manchester United"s acceptance of an GBP 80mn bid for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real
Madrid (Man Utd website) is helping to maintain downward pressure on EUR/GBP,
with a fresh 2009 low of 0.8514 just plumbed.

Some profit-take buy interest may emerge into 0.8500 if the cross extends
south. 0.8500 is a 61.8% Fibo retracement point of the rise from 0.7694 (Oct 20
    low) to 0.9805 (Dec 30 all-time high). 0.8796 was Monday"s intra-week peak.
    0.8867 was last Friday"s top (June 5).

0.6700 was the average EUR/GBP traded level through the first 10 years of the
    euro (1 Jan 1999-31 Dec 2008).

I'd look to the manager, who is not as good in Europe as he thinks he is.

Only the most succesful manager both domestically and in Europe for any British manager.
Still he's crap though aint he

While Ronaldo was a contributing factor with his selfish shooting and trying to do it on his own, I think the major factor for United's poor show in the final was the loss of Fletcher, who provides the position in midfield to protect the defence, break up play and then allow the others to play football.

when Barca scored against the run of play, it allowed them to keep the ball and United did not have that influence in centre midfield required to gain control of the ball.

Fletcher was definately missed, Ronaldo is amazing for his goals and marketability, Real think they have another Beckham on the marketing front, that will not be so.

He's only 24, so I doubt he's peaked. A very objectionable young man, but an incredibly good player.

Fergie's only selling him because the lad wants out. He might use the cash to brings in Ribery as a replacement: good, but not as good as tippy toes.

I reckon Man U could struggle a bit next season.
