Just like now, then...........on that basis the FA cup is harder than the PL to win as if you lose 1 game your out.

It's 4 x easier to qualify for the Champions League than it was the European Cup.
It should be easy to get through the group stages.

I even remember in the 80's good newly promoted sides like Watford and CPalace could finish in the top 2 or 3 and get to Cup Finals without having to spend £Ms. The focus was on a good first eleven and a few good subs.
