thanks so much for the good advice.
I have been buying at charity shops now and again but the only success I had was a Cricketing annual that I bought for 30p and sold for £3.00 on eBay! Everything else has been on Amazon for a 1p.
But of course I hadn't thought about checking out the ISBNs first - that's an excellent idea especially as round here I have only been able to buy from the sale rack i.e. 30p ish as all others are a £1 which I haven't wanted to risk!
    thanks again.

  • The Attic Term (Antonia Forest) - just sold for £20. Had it for years as I collected her books at one point.

Hi all, I've found the good sellers to be recent text books and anything that's usually studied on English literature courses - play texts, poetry, classic novels etc. I usually buy from jumble sales (at silly prices like 5p a book), library sales, and charity shops (the ones that do 5 books for a pound). It's a bit of a gamble though, so I generally only buy stuff that I'd be interested in reading myself. That way if nobody buys them at least I haven't completely wasted my money.

aahhh, jumble sales - another good idea. its years since I went to one. In fact I don't think I knew they still existed, given the onset of car boots. But its a good idea. I shall keep an eye out - thanks.

Quick question guys. Do you think it is okay to sell library clearance books? I was in my local library yesterday and they had books for sale for 10p, the only thing is there are library stamps all over it so I wasn't sure how Amazon buyers would find this. Any advice appreciated as there were a couple of books that I think will probably sell well but just want to know other experiences before I go racing back to the library!

Make sure you write in the description it's an ex-library book. I just pu "ex-library book with all usual stamps and marks", and then detail and specific battering.

If they're large print grab them now! They usually go for rather a lot.

I just sold an ex library book for £48.00. The lady who bought it knew what she was getting, and still wanted it.

Thanks for the tips. Do I need to look out for any specific large print books or will any do?
Also, other than this great thread advising on books that sell well is there a feature on Amazon where you can view books sold so that you can guage the popularity etc?
I'm still a newbie to selling on Amazon and have sold a few of my old books and CD's but am still finding my way around the site.
