Thought they were looking a wee bit fast at the shorter end. Me personally i find my marathon drop off isn't as bad as others from the half mark. Probably the benefit of Ultras i guess. Does mean my short distance times suffer though but it would be impractical to target both ends of the distance scale. Something has to given and i'd rather it be less speedwork then my bodyDebt free Nerd number 1122 LBM Jan 2009 Debt @ LBM £40,086.88 (14/01/09)

Hi all, I've not been here in a while but I have been running, honest:)
I've done a few club runs/races and one long Sunday run which included a hill or two around Crystal Palace before getting lost and taking a much longer route back to base camp (club house) (Beertins I thought of you, as a lift would have come in handy :rotfl:)
My last race was Sunday gone: a 10K near Richmond Park. Lord it was hot at 9am but my asthma made it worse, so I'm thinking I'll need to run with my inhaler during this current heatwave, or run slower than I do anyway
Marathon training should have started earlier this week, but I worked late yesterday so nothing. I'll get out there this evening for a slow run and do the usual hills tomorrow.
I'll pop back later. No aircon in the office so it mght be cooler outside! The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -
Simply - it was hard work
And then I felt rubbish all evening and no endorphins . But wow - great news on the goal - go for it !
I think I'm missing out - I need to get an ipod... Or something that lets me listen to last.fm/spotify on the move! Mind that might provide more ammunition for UK...
Rich, you should know by now doing the right thing is never rewarded... (at least where the government is concerned).0 -
Hi all! Back from Glastonbury and had a great time apart from the wet/muddy spells!
It's hot out there, but still cool enough during my morning runs (out at 06:15 this morning).
Some good running going on, everyone.
P.S. If they ever bring in that non-smoking initiative down here, I reckon I'll go along. I'll smoke a couple of quick fags before the first time, to get it registered on the monitor. After that, I'll just collect the £12.50 a week. Sorted. Won't be any worse for me than a day of breathing in London air (which is frightening in itself!).Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

I'm still puzzled why people need music when out running!
You're either racing when you should be concentrating on other things or you're out on a less intensive run when your brain gets a chance to breathe unadulterated oxygen and go off into its own world. It is perfect thought processing time that leaves you all refreshed and means you dont need to process the day's rubbish when you're trying to get to sleep!:D
The thought of pumping music into to the poor thing seems a bit odd - but maybe thats just me!!:o
Anyway, its 90 minutes to the 4th race out of 6 in the Spencer Arms series - currently 30.5c so a long cold shower is the preparation of choice today. Could be a toughie......Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

You always need a cold shower Rich
Anyway...I did it- well sort of I did 9 miles in 1:37...I feel GOOD
But its about 33 degrees out there, and boy could I feel yesterdays intervals in the legs - I wanted to quit at 3 miles when my feet swelled up but decided there was no way I was going out again tomorrow to another long one so best to get it over with now
Saw less than 20 others runners in both parks  So felt pretty smug about being out tbh and have managed to knock a bit off Sundays run where it was 11:30 minute miles am now at 10.77 which considering the heat and length feels good
I know I'll be okay to run Eccup now (albeit slowly) but please not this hot - its horrible!!!
Off for a shower...0 -

Coz where the MTV generation baby :rotfl:Plus its fine in Yorkshire when you can lisern to the birds and the bees, the audio sound track of North London is somewhat less soft on the ears.... "init bro"Cabbage Patch 09 - 10m - 1hr 06mLeicester 09 -1/2 - 1h 26m0 -
3rd road race this afternoon, not far but 5 miles ish.
A total nightmare for all, the weather was hot hot hot with some people running with no t-shirts. By the half way point water station i had ran out of water so i stopped to take on some free water, big mistake. Motivation dropped to 0 and from then on getting back to the finish in the red hot sun was hard.
Did not bother to record the time but finished the course to claim a standard last man 10 points.
Dont think ill be doing that again if its that hot again.0 -
Well done EC on a great run and Simply those goals look fantastic but I ain't gonna spill yet! If my runs go well this month I will let you know.
I did 3 miles today, sweating buckets but I felt OK. I still have a couple of blisters from walking up Snowdon but they seem to be fine when I stick a plaster over them so not too much damage.
Well done Becky you seem to be springing back nicely.
Have a good run Rich.0
