4 mile done this afternoon, it's just turned overcast and a lovely light shower whilst I was out. Still blooming hot though!

thanks for the replies....good to be back

the pain is really nonspecific...kind of deep pain...like i want to stretch it out but cant.

hope it is a bit better this week.

the are a few steps but not many (millenium bridge to st pauls) but i can use the ramp.

just out of interest becky how did you get over the problem. do you stop for a while or change things.

i am taking ibuprofen 4 times a day for two weeks as this is a pretty good anti inflamatory and two weeks should help.

the only other thing is that i cycle all day at work and i wonder if that might be a wear and tear type injury.

i really do not want to stop running if i can avoid it but need to be fit.

still cant be worse than yesterday....i havent felt so rough in ages.... had to stop at mcdonalds for a big poo and vomited in my car. had to sleep in their car park for 3 hrs_pale_. today im feeling better.

as for steps on my ipod...........i have really boring stuff on my ipod but thankfully not that bad....(in my opinion....)

thanks for the acl link....now everything makes sense! so simple...

    Run update - 8.35m in 1:30:15 (10:49/mile).

It's horribly hot and close out there - far worse than the last few lunchtime runs I've done IMHO. Mind I saw more runners this evening than I ever do Sat/Sun early on yet I know when I'd rather run.

I set out to try and go a bit longer 10/11 miles as I had the opprtunity/time so steady paced, but about mile 6 I decided I'd had enough of the humidity and didn't want to do myself a mischief so cut the last loop out.

Right off to drink the contents of a reservoir and try and cool down (shower didn't seem to help!).

Total for the week = 14.35 miles

Well done krider o a good log run in this heat!!

Mascott if you suspect something like ACL the please get the docs to check it - two of my rowing friends have had to have very painful acl ops because they left it too late!!!

Mine got better on its own in about 2-3 weeks by skipping the steps - it never aches now at all so hopefully it isnt anything serious for you :D

Uk - I have lots of classical on mine - I sometimes conduct and run at the same time - god I really am a nerd :p
  • That sounds like it was hard work krider; well done for sticking with it for over 8 miles :T

Becky/Uk - don't think you'd want to listen to my ipod. I've got Cascada, Scooter, Black Eyed Peas, Basshunter etc. I often find myself singing along especially on long runs. :D

6.4 miles on the way home from work tonight in 65 mins. That'll do nicely. HR data !!!!!!!! due to numerous massie spikes, max HR of 237 yeah right. 158 is more like it ;)

Will possibly look at interval training later on this year. I'll stick to my current fartlek or tempo sessions for my speed stuff. More concerned with building a big base first before worrying about speedwork. Generally aim for McMillin's tempo speeds on my fast fartlek sessions which for me is a little over 8 min miling roughly. Sometime i go to fast :(

As for long runs erm it depends alot on what races i have coming up. Slowly building up the weekly mileage then i'd probably flucuate between 16-18 and 20-22 milers on consecutive weekends but with a 10-12 mile midweek run when i do 16-18 milers and a 8-10 miler when doing 20-22 milers.

Training for ultras is not something i'm a specalist in yet and i was actually going to ask people i know who are faster, better, more experienced runners before embarking on proper ultra training. I was going to start cycling too as eary prep for doing triathlons.
