I don't like them green and hard; prefer them slightly on the soft side. Of course, if they go really brown they are great for making banana and walnut muffins.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910

..... and whilst we're talking bananas - I set out for my hilly run at 06.00 this morning and didn't eat my usual 1/2 banana before running. Not sure if it made any difference or not so I don't think I'll bother in future
The first couple of miles felt great but mile 2-3, which is uphill, more uphill followed by more uphill was haaaaaarrrrd. At one point I thought that I was going to vomit (or worse) but got to the top and it was a nice downhill for the last mile.
4 miles 00:40:55 (10:12/mile) - a few seconds slower than last week but both my Ave and Max HR were lower than last weeks attempt. I'm more than happy because last week I had a rest day on the Wednesday and this week it was less than 12 hrs between runs.
Thanks to KMS and Krider for the excellent race reports - well done both of you :T:T

Set off for a 13.5 miler this evening but got to 3.5 miles and just didn't fancy it and called it a day.
There was no stiffness or heaviness from last night's race, in fact no evidence of a race 24 hours earlier at all, just a hollowness or emptiness feeling in the legs. On top of which I am incredibly hungry today.
This is a feeling that I am very familiar with and indicates that I am right at the edge of over-training, which is great because that is the whole point of training - to get as close to over-training as possible and then letting the adaptation take place to lead to improved performances.
Its exactly the same as the marathon kickback so, hopefully, in 10-14 days time a certain amount of improvement will appear!:D:D
Simply - The HR readings certainly show that your body was working less hard than last time and so you have seen how running just a few hours before actually helps rather than hinders most of the time. Good going!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Firmly in the firm bananas camp here. Apart from baked goods as Simply says :EasterBun (we need a cake smiley!).
I've got a relaxing run due tomorrow lunchtime. Might juggle what I eat when as an experiment following the chat this week. Are you saying you will or wont stick with the half banana Simply? I think I'm being dense tonight! Not vomiting is always a positive though.
Hopefully get official times tomorrow too...0 -

hello all
Did my first run yesterday with my newly acquired 405. It was fun to watch the stats stuff knowing how far i had run without having to worry about remembering what route i had taken, it gives such freedom! so heres how it went.
Mile
1 00:10:04
2 00:10:53
3 00:12:01
4 00:12:43
5 00:12:36
6 00:12:59
7 00:12:45
8 00:10:16 <not a full mile
Summary 01:34:21
Distance 7.82m
Avg speed 12:03
Run was a mixture of road and off road. Its the furthest I have ever run so I am still pushing the boundries. I guess the speed will come with mileage as the legs strengthen.:staradmin5k - 00:27:46:staradmin 10k - 00:57.03:staradminHalf - 02:01:15:staradmin5M - 00:44:07:staradmin0 -
I have a love hate relationship with bananas, I love them when they are just ripe and only eat them as they are. I hate if they are mixed with anything e.g. a drink, dessert etc. yuck!
Some good runs going on well done. Hope you feel better soon Sammy, I've just had a week off.
Feeling almost back to normal today, so will attempt a short and steady run this evening. It's my dd first sports day this afternoon so looking forward to seeing that, can you believe they are told that it's not about the winning and not to shout for their friends! What the **** is that all about?0 -

Disgraceful! But not at all surprising.
I'm glad you're on the same wavelength, evab. It sometimes feel like you're the lone voice if you speak out against this stupidity.
Do people really want kids to be brought up like this? Meanwhile, Kenyan kids are having fun running 6 miles to school and 6 miles home again plus itching to get involved in racing because they see older kids enjoying the competition.
But if the majority want uncompetitive, fat kids with no drive....all they have to do is carry on with this bonkers thinking.:rolleyes:Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
