As long on no one stands on your toes idio - that used to happen to me all the time *rolls eyes*

Thanks KYCU - hope your niggle improves soon - I had one in my knee thats completely gone with my enforced rest - so I'll take that positive out of it too :D

Don't think it's the toes themselves, so should be relatively stamp proof. I think the muscles/ligaments are just moaning at going from nothing to 8.5 miles in a week. Weaklings that they are :)
  • yup its the last time i read a 'stretch to stay injury free' article. Im going back to my non stretch cool down routine and just do the stretches when i do the fitness dvd with the oh.:o

I think stretching post run can be dangerous as the risk of over stretching warm muscles is pretty high - think it was on the original thread somewhere, but I find if I do my gymnastic stretches before (or even the day before) a run I am fine, but after or even the day after and it tends to lead to funny little niggles...only my experience though - I know the general health professional view is that its good for you ;)

I believe thats exactly what happened even though I thought I was being gentle. Thats the trouble with being new to running there are so many conflicting opinions on how to do things that its a veritable minefield

I'm gonna put my two pennies worth here. You should wait at least 15 mins before stretching after running, after your cool down. I'm no expert though.

Although we do often give our opinions on here (run/walk/run anyone ;)) I think part of the journey with running is finding out what works for you - hopefully your niggle is just that and will ease up soon and you'll no not to stretch post run again ;)
