Whooo hooo.. Taper time.... time for lazyness...
Thats a long taper to November!;)
Btw I've just got my number for Sunday - I've thoroughly inspected it, held it up to the light etc and I just dont seem to be able to find the gold leaf in it anywhere. I'm going to have to look harder, they obviously wouldnt use bog standard paper numbers when charging £25 entry fee.
Right, off racing now....looks like a VERY wet oneGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Wow - I fell through a brick wall is the best excuse I've heard for time out yet! Seriously nasty though, glad you're on the up and out walking the dog. Nice way to start back.
Thought the shower of rain would help me this morning, well, it did make me cooler, but my legs felt like lead, and back to 10:10 miles, everything about me felt heavy. Why is it like this? Think I'm gonna keep a diary, today was early, before breakfast - but probably more importantly after a good weights session in the gym yesterday. My best run was after days of laziness!!! Maybe I'm going to have to temper the weight training with the running, maybe my poor old legs can't run after so much weights. I dunno!
Still quite happy - just strange how some days it's easy, others it's soooo hard!
Rich - I'm sure the gold leaf is there somewhere! And the red carpet, private parking, gourmet lunch................0 -
B.J. you'll legs will be heavy from the faster run the other day - you worked the muscles hard and they needed a bit of recovery time - just take it easy the spring will be back soon
On that note my run sounds the same as yours - really feeling Sunday's efforts still so skipped intervals for a nice 9 miler 1:28:31 - also got nice and damp - didnt rain lots but just enough to keep me cool - first time I've been rained on in a looooong while
A few aches and pains today so have decided to do less mileage this week than planned and I'm going to start tapering for my half instead, so I'll prob do about 35-40 rather than the 50 I was planning. The idea is since I'm still making progress at the moment on relatively low mileage there's little point going all out to get over 50 a week - may as well wait till after Fleetwood to really push on with the mileage
Tues - 4 miles
Weds - 9 miles 1:28:31 9:50 mins/mile0 -
Back home after work, had the 10k (6.44mile) road race.
Went well apart from a bit of calf pain, slowed off abit and it eased. Then followed was my first even running blister.
Usually i use the 1000mile socks, which are ment to be blister proof.
Today, i worn my Hilly Mono Skins, and its about the 3rd time ive warn them ever, and ive got a small blister on the inside of my foot...
Not very happy with them, and ive just sent them an email asking why i have a blister from there socks & not the 1000mile items..0 -

11 Days To Marathon Day
The last of the Spencer Arms series tonight and delighted to have landed the best time of the season and the best finishing position. Tbh I'm a bit shocked to have got back in the Top 10 of this event - its a long time since that last happened (a mere 16 years:p).:D:D
With it being the last in the series it was also prize giving night and it was a nice surprise to be called up to get a t-shirt for having completed all 6 races. However, as I was just sitting back down with the latest addition to my running kit I was called up again. God knows how but I had actually won the overall series veterans classification with 105 points (2nd place had 104 points).
So, unbeknown to me at the time, the fact that I gained one place on the last hill actually secured the overall veteran series win. And it was no easy place to gain either as I knew the guy in front of me had run a 53 minute 10 miler in the past so it had to be a decisive move when it happened, thankfully it stuck and he couldnt respond:D.
The big surprise with this is that the race is littered with hardened veteran runners so I am more than chuffed with that. And a £20 cash prize was nice too!:D:D
