Simplycynical your training is amazing:D-mine seems really poor in comparrison, esp as running marathon on same day:eek: How do you all come up with training plans? I have a book that I am following for marathon but not sure where to go after that?
Interval training today ( I hate intervals!!!) not bad times though. 1min intervals with 1min rest (6.46, 6.51, 6.45, 6.24, 6.31, 6.36, 6.39, 6.45, 6.11, 6.36).
How did 10k go EC?
I like that - 1 min rest followed by 1 min rest, my kind of session!;)
Only kidding, the terminology is often used loosely but the intervals are the rest, the tough bits in between are the reps (or repetitions).
Anyway, well done on getting an interval session under your belt....what do the list of figures actually refer to?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Well done evab - you're certainly clocking up a few miles this week. Hope your little one is ok now
tq16 - I was very fortunate in that Becky prepared a training plan for me. I get to do the easy bit which is fall out of bed, put on my running shoes and do as the plan tells me.
Hello and welcome catspaw; you'll find we're a friendly bunch on this thread just don't mention run/walk/run and you'll be fine. There's loads of help and advice available. Are you a new runner?

So when the big 20m Simplycynical....
20m is my max untill month before my marathon them in going to do a 22m. which should have been on the 11th of October but i have the 10m Race the week after that and i want to try and get a good time so will have to move it to the 4th October... which is not 100% to plan but it will have to do i guess.

I've got my first 20 mile run on Sunday
It's the first of 4 before my marathon - but there are no 22 milers in my plan so I'll be running into the unknown for the last 6.2
At least Abingdon is flat and in October should be on the cool side ....... I do envy you running Athens though.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
Blimey this thread has gone mental in the last three days! Welcome to gingerscot and catspaw and any other newbies I've just forgotten. Welcome back to some people - though I don't think I was around when you were previously.
Good running from the usual suspects too
Reporting in two runs so far this week:
Monday: 10k in 59:13 (9:33/mile)
Wednesday: 6m in 57:17 (9:31/mile)
Total for the week = 12.2 miles.
Today was better in terms of consistent and increasing pace. Monday was a bit all over the place. Followed some chap for much of the last mile today and he kept my pace to just under 9min/miles just as I was tiring which was helpfulHis legs indicated he could have gone a lot faster (not that I was looking...) so pleased he was going at a rate I could tag onto! And a major first - all the joggers out on the streets smiled/nodded back to me today (business park right by the office aside but they never do there). For some silly reason that made me happy.
Planning to run tomorrow and then Saturday - though we are away this weekend so what/where/how-long is up for debate or how lost I get!0
