You'd be better going for it over a 5k distance...its easy to run faster over shorter distances and the pain is over quicker :D

    Hey people,

Thought I'd join in with all the fun!

Just entered the Glasgow Geat Run HM on 6th September (£27.50:mad:) and planning on the Leicester Marathon on the 11th October (My uni home city!).

    Very brief facts!

23, Male in Edinburgh, relatively fit but prone to injuries all the time mainly in feet (over-pronation issues mainly).

I did my one and only HM in 1.36, 3 years ago but I'm not that good at present, sub 1.40-1.45 in the plan hopefully.

At present running 3/week with one long run, one middle run and one treadmill (fast intervals). I don’t run far enough at present though, did my longest run yesterday and it was only 7.7miles! Oh dear, I think the marathon in October is going to hurt a lot...

My grand plan is to do the marathon is around 3.45-4 hours. I’m a bit of a stats/numbers geek so I’m sure if bore you to death with random splits,

    Thanks! Dave

    Thanks Beer Tins.

Ooh, a new job in the US? How exciting! Where are you going?

Nah, a new job in London, but the company is based in the US and so is my manager! So I'm going over for a fortnight to meet everyone and help me get up to speed quicker.

Oh well, at least it will be a change of running scenery for a couple of weeks ;). Have fun (if that is the right word).

Evab - did you manage to get out yesterday? You were stranded indoors with a teething child if I remember. I mentioned to OH that you had entered the Snowdonia Marathon and his eyes lit up. He really wants to do it but he's nowhere near fit at the moment. (Too many holidays) If he does enter I'll be there as his support team so I may get to meet you. :j
