Hi there, haven't been around much recently. Sorry! I have had a very quick look back over the thread, but it moves so quickly it would take me ages. Haven't been doing much running over the last 3 weeks
. No excuse, other than feeling a bit fed up and lazy. It is the summer hols and I am leaving DS to fend for himself during the day, which isn't a problem, he goes off with his pals and chills out, but I feel very guilty leaving him alone in the evening too. Anyway, I went out for a run with my ladies group last night and I found it quite tough, but still enjoyed it. Training will be hit-and-miss next week too as I'm off to Majorca on Monday. Yay! Not back until the following Monday (3rd) so I won't be around for the Sale 10. I might well have had a go at that too. Oh well.
Had some really rubbish news too when I got back from homeymoon. The organisation I work for will cease to exist at the end of March - lots of reasons I can't go into, but mainly lack of public sector funding. Unfortunately that means I will be out of a job. Lots of time to run though.:p I'm not sure if having a long time to prepare is better or worse really. A bit of a long drawn-out demise isn't going to be easy. Quite a worry though, as there aren't too many jobs out there at the moment. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. I'll keep you updated and let you know how it goes.
Good luck to anyone racing this weekend.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Well chickadee sorry to hear the news about the job but at least you have time to plan things before it happens.
Shame about the conditions for Mo's 5000m still a fine time though.
I run 8.69m last night a new longest distance. I managed to keep a nice even pace through out even if it was a bit slow (01h50)
Is anyone doing heaton park next week? I was thinking of doing it because I have a free weekend!
p.s sorbathingies rock my legs arent stiff at all this morning:staradmin5k - 00:27:46:staradmin 10k - 00:57.03:staradminHalf - 02:01:15:staradmin5M - 00:44:07:staradmin0 -

A new parkrun today, and the 4th different parkrun in July.
This was a challenging one though being run on energy sapping, uneven and 'undulating' grassland in hot sunshine.
Nonetheless, everyone seemed to enjoy the experience and get a sun tan into the bargain.
Becky was pleased with her 27:30 (6th lady) and Bj-sailaway completed her first parkrun finishing strongly in around 33 minutes and will no doubt be posting shortly.
KYCU - We'll not be doing a parkrun next week as its the Sale 10 the next day and we want to have a good crack at that. Glad you're finding the Sorbowotsitthingamyjigs useful.:D
Chickadee - Theres plenty time for something positive to turn up to replace the existing position - its amazing what starts to appear once you start looking which you wouldnt have noticed otherwise. And just putting the word about is usually effective if you're not in too much of a rush.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Hey guys - I did it! I did my first park run, 32:49 (sounds so much better than 33!!!) Forgot to turn my silly watch off, but that's the time on the results.
Was Becky 6th? Looks like she was higher than that to me? Where did you come Rich?
You both looked so cool and relaxed at the end, whilst I struggled to draw breath!
Thanks for all your advise and encouragement guys, I nearly bottled it this morning, but sooooo glad I went along. And hey, wasn't quite last!0 -
No runs for me this week, recently had wisdom tooth out so been pumping myself full of drugs, infact i get 1000mg of paracetamol every 4 hours, which makes my face pretty numb.
Was tempted to go out for a run, GNR is 20th Sept and were nearly into Aug.
The furthest ive run sucessfully is 8miles, apart from the time i pushed out the 10.42miles which made my knees hurt.
Have this feeling i should be pushing the miles up & out this week,,,,0 -
look on the bright side, all the pain killers will numb the knee pain!!!!!! (I'm not seriously suggesting that's OK!)0

Congratulations Bj - you certainly looked cool and relaxed even while you were still racing never mind afterwards.....I'm sure there is plenty more to come.
You're right, Becky finished 4th and I managed 4th too!:D
Ouch, Alias!!! I can feel your pain!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Strangely, I don't hurt - which make me feel I could have pushed a bit harder! But it's always the breathing that gets me, not the legs. Work in progress!
Few weights for abs and shoulders this evening. with a nice piece of steak as my reward!
Thanks again.0 -
*Sneaks in ashamed that I haven't been able to get out running for days!*
