Its the buzzard time of year - its when people get too close to nests I reckon - they are pretty scary birds though

Hope the number is a good one :D

I want number 21 for fleetwood but theres no chance me thinks - one day I will get my lucky number for a race :)
  • I don't think I'd want a buzzard flying round my head - or any other bird come to that

I've got number 40 - I'll let you know after the race whether it's a lucky number or not ;)

Yeah saw that  what a rip off but then people pay £25 + for 10k races so obviously there's an audience for it somewhere (not mse I hope ;))

Uk hows the training going - not long now till athens eh :D Getting excited??

So, what's a fair price? I paid £15 for priviledge of my Portsoy 10K disaster a few weeks ago.

Thats a very good question B.J...

In my opinion (which is only mine) the price should reflect road closures, number (the paper bit and chip if there is one), organisers fee and small surplus for next years event - for a 10k this would be roughly £8-10, up to about £20 for a half and maybe £25 for a marathon - but really these costs are mostly static for any race.

But of course every race is different sometimes its costs more because the roads have to be closed for longer - which is why smaller races are often the cheapest :D

In terms of monysaving if you're going to race a lot it may be worth joining a cheap club and registering with England Athletics as you get £2 off each entry fee - but me and Rich havent found one thats cheap enough to make it worthwhile yet even for us...although we may be working on that ourselves ;)

Interestingly, race organisers no longer have to pass £2 of the entry fee from unaffilliated entries to UK Athletics.

Instead they pay a flat fee licence based on the size of the field.

They do, however, still have to charge at least £2 more for unaffilliated runners but can charge considerably more if they wish. The difference now is that the additional fee is kept by the race organisers.
