hi, 2 days ago my laptop was fine now i want to throw it out the window. I think im actually going barking mad.
The internet is working fine but nothing else is loading. There is an update which needs to be done but i just get a blank box..........my printer no longer works but when i click on printers i just get a blank box............when i try and look at the network and sharing center i just get a blank box..........
If i shut down/restart it just says logging off for ages and ages (literally hours) in the end i just keep my finger on the button and try again.
Its making me truly miserable can anybody please help me.
As you can probably tell i dont know much about computers, considering going back to good old fashioned pen and paper
xx

Have you got any Anti-Virus on there at all?
TBH I doubt it's Vista's fault - although it could well be an erroneous software issue.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
Have you recently installed or updating anything that might point to the cause?
When you say NOTHING else is loading you really mean you cant get ANYTHING else to work except internet explorer?:idea:0 -
i unistalled avg this afternoon because i read on some website or other that that might help.0

ok from the sounds of it some programs gone haywire
what programs have you installed recently apart from the vista update
i would consider doing a system restore point
just type in restore in the start bar and select system restore
when you get to the appropriate page make sure you select the most recent date from when your computer didnt have these issues so 3 days ago or more
this wont affect any data so dont worry but it will remove programs installed since then but in doing this it should solve the issue
Edit: it could also be as stated above so try both solutionsBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
So the problem happened straight after uninstalling avg?:idea:0

ill reask then. Have you done anything that might have caused the problem?
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click DO A SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE (Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log):idea:0
