I'd expect the processor/s to be wet at the tip if they are told a claim is changing to JSA(C) only. It should rreally speed things up.

Just to say, it's now 8 weeks since my JSA claim was originally switched from CB to IB - and finally I've had the first automated payment (ie not chased, no phone calls, no delayed Giro with apologies). Woohoo.

Now, it's only 6 weeks until I need them to effect another change, to go onto Maternity Allowance. What are the chances of that going right?

Tigs - the MA people are really helpful. I posted a number for them in the preggie thread so maybe give them a call about it. THey were really helpful to me and I was so surprised!

Thanks Skinty - I'll bear that in mind if they turn out to be as [strike]incompetent[/strike] confused as the JSA staff have been!

You'll be ok with the MA people there's not 1000 people a day applying for that (yet lol)

Had my "award" through today a whole £27 a week for JSA (IB) oooooooh where will I spend that.....

Anyway now back to the drawing board, have contact with a manager at JCP so hopefully can get this turned round into JSA(C) back dated to 7th May ASAP

I may be misunderstanding, but you cannot claim JSA(IB) and not JSA(c) (in fact you can't only claim either element, you must always claim both, but that's another matter) and the (c) will always be assessed first, if you qualify you will recieve that, if your (ib) is greater you will receive the difference on top.

For these reasons you cannot get anything "turned around into" JSA(c), that will have been assessed and entitlement decided.

Dookar, that is wrong, you can claim Contributions Only JSA but you cannot claim Income Based Only JSA.

No it's not. Like I said it's another matter, but JSA is a single benefit with two elements. You cannot claim a single element and not the other.

What you can do is claim the contribution based element and concede the existence of a material fact that would cause you to not be entitled to the income based element. You don't have to state what the fact is, just acknowledge that it exists.

The legislation allows what you say for ESA (the benefit, not you:D) but not JSA.
