This is getting ridiculous:
Here is today's record:
08:30 -> 08:50 "Server" gone missing again.
Switched to master socket and tried again. Had to switch off-on the router to get back the signal.
09:05 -> 09:20 Phut.
09:27 -> 10:00 Phew just managed to complete online banking before it went Phut again. .
10:15 -> 11:30 (!) -> 13:00????? Phut.(Interestingly last nigh it stayed up for 2.5 hours, about 21:00 -> 23:30 before failing.)
13:47 -> 14:15???? Phut.
14:32 -> 14: 59??Phut
15:05 -> 15:07 Phut. Even AVG did not manage to get started!
15:12-> What is the betting its gone down again at 15:41
Surprise surprise it is still up at 15:47, I've had to deal with two phone calls in that 6 minutes!
Ah that is very interesting - when I try at 16:03 to go and look at Google, I get the dreaded "server not found" message BUT I still seem to be able to get back here? Very strange.
And when I try to go to Hotmail, that fails too. (Trapped in MSE:rolleyes:)
16:10 had to switch off AGAIN
Any ideas? Suppose I could try switching the filters round just in case the one plugged into the master socket is on the blink?
Switched the filters round. Had to switch the router off and on to get it connected again.
16:46 -> 17:10 Phut.
17:15 -> 17:16 Phut.
17:20 -> 17:40 Phut (Just managed to send an Email).
18:25 -> 18:45 Phut
19:10 ->
I've tried using Internet Explorer as well as Firefox - makes no difference. Might try installing the latest version of Firefox, if the connection will stay up long enough?!
-> 19:30 Phut.
19:43 ->
Time to go and do some more elbow chewing.0 -
Hi Harryhound,
Sounds very much like an intermittent connection fault - when the connection drops you are able to view pages that are already cached in your browser, but unable to load anything new. Have you raised a fault with us, and have you tested the connection with just the router plugged into the master socket and all other items disconnected from the phone line? If the connection is still dropping then there's definitely a line fault and we'll need to report it to our supplier for investigation.
If you PM me a username I'll be able to have a look at the account and advise a bit further for you?
Hope that helps,
MattKind regards, Matt Taylor

Thanks Matt,
I'm away for a few days, will check when I get back and if the problem continues will contact you then.
Just sorting out my Emails before leaving:
This evening's record is:
22:30 - 23:00 Phut
23:05 - still up at 00:25 ?!0 -
Hmm, interesting, we seem to be getting similar disconnection problems to harryhound. The OH phoned MAAF this morning in desparation, not sure exactly what they've done but she says she's now connected again (last night we couldn't connect at all, despite a couple of attempts at turning off - waiting ten minutes - turning on).
I'm about to PM you, Matt, but thought I'd mention it here in case others knew where it might be (phone line? microfilters? router? MAAF?)0 -
Hi OxJak,
Just got the PM and am looking into it now for you.Kind regards, Matt Taylor

Hi, my mother in law is out of her 12 month tie in with MAAF and looking for a new deal. Is it worth asking MAAF for a discount?0
-
It's always worth asking - you can talk to our team regarding this on 0845 1406002, that would definitely be the best way.Kind regards, Matt Taylor

Hi i'm having serious connection problems as the previous two posters, have tried the usual fixes such as plugging in to master socket and swapping filters etc but its still the same. what i don't understand is i have been with MAAF since feb 2007 and these problems only started around six weeks ago. could it be the modem. i have ongoing faults raised with cust support and Matt but its so frustrating i wondered if anyone else had any ideas. Thanks0

Hi Matt,
I've not had enough time in my life for a major all day session to find a pattern to the problem.
But at quiet times - early hours of the morning - your system seems more reliable.
I have installed Firefox 3.0.3. It did not like Mc Afee "Site Advisor", but everything else seemed normal at my end. So in theory I now have a clean system with up to date Windows XP technology.
My latest results (the "long" sessions were not in reality long sessions, I just left the PC switched on hybernating, against my normal practice) do not suggest that the problem has gone away.
One other feature of how I work is to have two sessions of Firefox fired up at the same time. One is on Google, to which I can refer whenever I need to double check something. The other is where I am active, preparing a web mail reply to friends and associates (or poking about on MSE etc.;) )
I can have trouble on the active Firefox session, for example clicking links that don't work, only to switch to the dormant Google search and be able to click some links that work BUT within a matter of a minute or two that session will collapse too.
I don't always work this way - sometimes I'm simply doing a "quick" Email check.
Part of my problem is that we don't know who and what is really supplying our service. (A bit like those customers who used to think that "Waitrose" did internet, (Like Tesco does banking)).
At the back of my mind there is a real worry. Are your attempts, to integrate MAAF into the rest of your operation, creating unannounced glitches?
http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/mso.php
From tomorrow lunchtime, for the rest of this week, or until you let me know you have fixed the problem, while I will be be away,
I will leave the router ONLY plugged into the master socket, (thinks will my incoming calls go through to 1581?)
The PM with my id and mobile number will be on its way to you soon.
Harry.

Hi
Can anyone advise me if this is at all right with madasafish cancellations
I have been with MAAF for 2 years now, the first year on a 12 month contract and this year on a 12 month contract which is due to end by my invoices on 13th November but according to some really rude man in customer cancellations it's 20th November.
To be honest it doesnt matter which date it is as long as it's cancelled. The problem I've incurred is this email which states I've outstanding fee's to be paid (which I have never been informed about)There are some outstanding fees on your account:
Details:
- Deferred Migration: 12.93
- Deferred Hardware: 60.00
- Subscription charge covering period between
next invoice and 30 days notice from cancellation request (8 days): 4.00
These fees may be:
- Deferred contract (house move, hardware or activation) charges.
- Any outstanding account balances.
- Any migration fees.
Total outstanding fees: 76.93
We will now continue processing your migration request.
How do they come to this??
TIA
Cate0
