Just wanted to say thanks so much to Alan and all contributers who've posted recommendations and reviews. Much appreciated.
I've finally finished reading these years of posts as we're looking to update our kitchen by replacing the worktops with something lovely. We'll start making contact and will report back!

Yes, same here0 -
I have been trawling the internet and also visited a couple of granite suppliers but still find it difficult to make a decision as to who is reputable and who is not.
Does anyone have any recommendations for the following:
My Italian Interiors in Welwyn GC
Diapol
Granite solutions in Slough
Granite logic in Slough
Cawdor stone in Knebworth
Also, had an online quote from Granite4UK which was quite a lot cheaper than others and seemed to be too good to be true - has anyone experience of them?
Thanks for any help anyone can give me0 -

We used Granite Solutions in Slough last November for our granite (ivory fantasy) and they did a fantastic job.0 -
Hi Alan - Could you please suggest any granite suppliers near SE London (Greenwich)? We are trying to update our kitchen in the next week and am hunting desperately for a good quality/reasonable supplier.
Thanks!0 -

Not the expert here but in the absence of Alan I'll try and answer.
Not stupid at all, the simple answer is yes. Granite being quite porous, some types more so than others. The real truth as you will have to repeat the sealing.
Have a little read of some of the earlier postings, Alan has covered this in great detail.
PS, I think any quote that details extra for polishing and sealing, (unless you are simply talking about the cutouts), is a bit cheeky.;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Hi there, can you recommend a supplier of quartz or granite in or near South Lanarkshire please? Looking for a 30mm glossy black worktop with silver or mirror like flecks. It will be template, supply and fit for 2 runs of kitchen units and an island unit, approx 6sqm of worktop plus all associated costs? Cut out for a Belfast sink/5 tap and a ceramic hob plus up stands. Getting hugely varying quotes and getting confused. Think I need to narrow down the material, looked so far at star galaxy, specks too bronze and starlight black, black a bit hazy looking.0

Have you read the previous 18 pages?I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I have actually and still confused. Which is best, deepest sparkly black. Thinking of going for stralight black quartz, is this best option? Supplier says he seals with permanent shiny black dye?0

No one can make your mind up for you, nor should they. There's a common or rather sensible approach if judging by the last 18 or so pages is anything to go by, get whichever you like best, you have to live with it, no one else.
Dark is harder than light colours.
Plain lighter colours are more likely to show staining from bright colours.
Pay most attention to who you buy from, it's probably more critical than the actual granite type.
But do view and pick the actual slab you want, that is the most important thing I think you could gain from this thread.
Sorry, again it's Alans thread but he isn't around at the moment so I've just tried to give my view in a few lines, but it's a consensus of whats been posted to be honest,;)
