Picking up money from the street...

I am always finding money on the streets, ususally 1p' and 2p's but often higher values too.
I do all of my shopping at Tesco's where I also collect Tesco points, I recently, about a month ago, started picking up other peoples recipts which they haven't claimed the points on. If I work it out as clubcard deals value I would probably have got about £50 in the last 4 - 6 weeks. Now I'm not talking about going thru the bins or anything, just recipts that are left in trolleys or at the checkout or lying around the entrance of the shop. I was a little embarrased at the start but soon realised that no one even looked at me picking one up, and besides if I keep collecting at this rate it'll be about £500 this year in clubcard points. I am still trying to decide what to use them on.

I parked my car in a big carpart and stepped out of my car onto a ten pound note0

Campbeji - If I find Tescos receipts with 'you could have earned xxx club card points on this transaction' how do I add them to my own club card? Do I just take them to the customer service desk to get them put onto my club card?
I fancy this idea  as well as walking around with my eyes to the ground and scrutinising abandoned trolleysI can see myself now...

Mmmm, you could start a huge discussion on this. Basically it was late at night so the bank wasn't open to give the money in - probably had been left there by someone at bit the worse for wear- is that different to the tales of people picking money up in bars and by phone boxes. How could it be proved who the money belonged to. I suppoe she could have given it to charity but as she's living on £44 a wee job seekers allowance at the moment I for one don't blame her for not doing that.0 -

About two years ago I found £20 in an ATM. It was at a train station, and I'd only gone over to check my balance - I'd just moved to a new city, was yet to find a job and was skint! There was no one else around except a guy at the atm next to me, I asked him if he'd seen anyone use the machine, and pointed out why - he told me no, and that I should get myself a drink! (I didnt, as mentioned was skint, but there were no banks around so just kept it. Got a job the next day too)
I dont tend to find many coins, but have found fivers 3 or 4 times in the last four years - always when I'm skint! Once found a fiver on the floor in Eldon Square (shopping mall in newcastle) - right in the middle of the floor, with heaps of people going past! Saw it from a distance and didnt fancy my chances of getting there first, but I did! :j0 -
if i am short of money ie i need a pound i always check the coin trap in the washing machine and I nearly always find a pound in it.0
