Picking up money from the street...

do you do this? My DH is fanatical about it! Last year he saved £52 in his piggy bank from money he picked up off the street! His favourite thing now is to leave the shopping trolley back as he's found £'s there lots of times...people just can't be bothered to bend down and pick up the money if they've dropped it!
When I was in the car getting petrol the other day I watched two kids throw their change away! It was probably only pennies but GEEZ!
Are you a picker upper!

I found a nice shiney 20p coin yesterday might have to start contributing to the 20p saver thread!
I would pick up money in the street, I once found a £20 note in the gutter when I was a child, took it to the police station and got it back 3 months later as it wasn't claimed ( at the time my dad earned about £16 a week for 40 hours in a factory, it was a huge amount of cash to lose for someone.)0 -
My daughter spends five minutes checking all the lockers before swimming after she found a £1 coin once.0

If other people don't want it then I do. It might only add up to £10/20 a year but my kids save it up for treats.Barclaycard 3800

I remember when I was at school. it was really "uncool" to keep coppers if you got them in change from the tuck shop. So we used to chuck them all on the floor!
There was one kid though that used to always pick them up! He got insulted and called names for it but he always used to have loads of money on him! It wouldn't surprise me if he made a fiver a day! Seriously, everywhere you looked there were 1p's and 2p's, even 5p's and 10p's! :rotfl:
Good on him! :beer:0 -
Too right I do!! Every penny I pick up goes in my coppers jar to get money off my grocery bill at Sainsburys.
nearlyrich: I found a £20 note on a forecourt a few years ago - just as some OAP's were driving off. I handed it in at the cash desk...I wonder if they went back on the off chance anyone handed it in...and even more interestingly, would they have got it back??Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
Sainsburys Loan: Cleared July 2010
Credit cards: AMEX Airmiles Card: direct debit set to clear balance monthly

I must admit that when I'm walking down the steet I'm normally far too busy with kids to worry about pinking up other peoples money, but my eldest boy found 20p the other day. Maybe I should be training them to spot more!!0
