There was one kid though that used to always pick them up! He got insulted and called names for it but he always used to have loads of money on him! It wouldn't surprise me if he made a fiver a day! Seriously, everywhere you looked there were 1p's and 2p's, even 5p's and 10p's! :rotfl:
Good on him!
as for picking up money... i wouldn't go out of my way... but if it's there... yeah, sure... it's also funny how people discard a penny change at the til... but if you only had 43p in your pocket for that 44p chocolate bar... the guy wouldn't sell it to you... so why pay a penny more for the last one?
Look after the pennies...0 -
Bonnie, you sound just like me. I am always finding money, usually 5ps, 2ps, but this year I found £25. Found £1 last week. Even my son is starting to do the same and he is only eight. Once I was at an indoor play area and found a wad of notes tied up with an elastic band. I handed it in to the lady at the desk, it wasn't theirs, wonder if it was collected, must have been a few hundred pounds. My mum said I should have given my name and address in case it wasn't collected. Wish I had now.

At the age of about 7 I was playing in a small adventure playground with a layer of sand on the floor for you to fall off in, and found 10p... went rooting around more and found loads more coins! I think it was at a holiday park in Camber Sands... By the end of the week I seem to remember I'd found about £4. An absolute fortune for a 7 year old who only got 20p a week pocket money. Can't remember what I did with it...
Think I'd try and dissuade kids from rooting around in playgrounds these days though... god knows what they'd get stuck in their finger....0 -

I would pick up money in the street, I once found a £20 note in the gutter when I was a child, took it to the police station and got it back 3 months later as it wasn't claimed ( at the time my dad earned about £16 a week for 40 hours in a factory, it was a huge amount of cash to lose for someone.)
Same thing happened to me when I was a kid although it was about £150!!! After 3 months the police gave it to me, I was only 10 at the time so was a huge amount but had to share it with my brother...booooo! I have never had so much fun in a toy shop before he he Would come in handy right now as saving for rent & bond on a new house. Might have to start being on the look out for street change though! :rotfl:Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 038 :j0 -
You wont believe this, it happened in the span of a month.
I was getting off the train with my husband going to work & I came across a £10 note on the ground right in front of me. I looked around to see if anyone had dropped it, then took it. That weekend we were on a boat on the Thames (just sightseeing, it was a nice day) my husband put his arm behind the couch there & found £20! Then a few weeks later we were in a museum gift shop in Paris & he found EUR20 on the floor. I swear, he can smell money, that one.
Hasnt happened since though. :P I should have played the lottery that week.Debt & Mortgage free...0 -

I tend to pick up coins too - never find many though.
My nephew found £15 on the street a couple of years ago so we took that to the police station, no-one claimed it so he was delighted!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 027

The best place I have found to find money is lockers in the gym. Can usually find £3 each time, makes it free!0
