Taplady...I'm sure your ds will have coped fairly well, with you as his mum to support him what more could he ask for? My DS1 is just about to take his last GCSE this week and what a nightmare its been to get him to even consider revising, goodness knows what results he'll get
he too finds it very hard to put anything down on paper, but ask him about something and he'll go into great detail about it!
Thanks Ruthibe, your DS sounds just like mine! last years coursework and revision was hell on earth for us but he did eventually get his required 4 grade cs - a minor miracle considering the state of his coursework and lack of revision but like your DS he's got it all upstairs.Do what you love :happyhear0 -
ravylesley - Your daughter looks lovely, bless her heart. Glad you all had a lovely day! In our (Catholic) diocese the children make their First Communion when they are eight, and are confirmed later on at 13-14 upwards - it must be because it's a different diocese, i suppose - we're in Southwark Diocese, which covers the East half of London, Kent and some of Sussex.
fairyelephant - (((HUGS))), been thinking of you and your family.
taplady - (((HUGS))) to your DS, such a stressful time for teens and their Mums! One of my friends is a teacher - she says it's stressful for them too - i remember her saying that the kids seem so "cool" and grown up for most of the year, "and then exam time comes and they come asking for help with big anxious eyes, and I really wish I could do the exam for them so that they don't have to worry about it!"
snoozer - What a time you've been having! You must be exhausted. So glad your Dad is getting better.
jayward - So sorry to hear about your OH's job! I hope he gets another one quickly ((((HUGS))))
meanmarie - 60 Euro a time to visit the doc, goodness! I suppose each EU country has its own arrangements. My brother lives in Germany and pays a small amount each month (I think he said 9 Euro) and then I think he doesn't have to pay any more when he needs to see the doc.
betheebee - Hope you're ok honey, where are you
essex-girl - LOL at your DD's present - bribery and corruption, isn't it?:D Oh no, sorry, that's the MPs! Hope the new medicine is better for your DS.
Got worn out at Bluewater, but got 3 nice tops, and DH bought me a maxi dress - I think i was having a Gok momentIt does look lovely though. We're now having breaded fish and oven chips for dinner
- well, sorry, but can't manage any more standing up today
Will have the chicken stirfry tomorrow instead.

Evening all. Very quick one as DH needs me to give him a hand with some stuf for school.
RavyLesley your daughter looks totally beautiful. You must be so proud of her.
redruby thanks for that. I think you are right. Switched everything off and lo and behold when I switched it back on was showing as 100% charged.
Had the pesto/pasta option for tea but had red pesto and cheese so will save the tomatoes for another meal.
Am being called so had better go.
Have a good evening and take care,

Lesley, we must do it different in the Liverpool Archdiocese..... my DS's First Communions were at about 7 years old and then Confirmations were in year 7 aged 12.....and way back when God was a boy I was 7 when I made my First Communion (became a proper Brownie a week later) and 11 when I was confirmed - but that was Leeds Diocese.

Ravylesley, I think they seem to have changed things in the Catholic church since I was a kid......In my day we had our Communion first usually around 7 or 8 and then the confirmation in our early teens about 12 or 13 as it was meant to be about us confirming that we still wanted to be Catholic and therefore done at an age where we were supposed to be able to make that decision for ourselves.......
I am off now to google to see if things have changed.
Reverbe, I'm the same as you, and if it's changed then it must only be in the last few years....2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Good evening all,
I am just starting to be able to breathe properly again (still on steroids), dh left yesterday for the Falklands (and has just arrived there ) and I was looking forward to getting my domestic act together after feeling rough for a couple of weeks and coping with dh packing. I did manage to make myself a chicken dinner from scratch tonight by the way, and I've done all of the washing and ironing.
Then today happened. At 11:15 this morning I had a phone call from ds's nursery asking if I wanted to pick him up. One of the children from the class younger than his was taken ill on Friday and had died of meningitis on Saturday. I rang my friend who was pulling up outside nursery to collect her daughter, so she picked ds up for me there and then, and I left work straight away. It's not a particularly infectious thing, but I knew the staff would be very upset.
I am feeling very lucky tonight. My son is noisy, demanding, loveable but most of all still alive. Makes you think doesn't it?
Take care all of you0
