Competition Scams - Please Post Them Here

Hi Folks,
Just started entering competitions this week and have entered LOADS (its addictive )! The problem is I have not kept a check of what I have entered or who I have registered with. I am now dreading any wins comming in as I will not know if it is a scam or not!
Can anyone give me tips as to how to spot fake winning emails and phones calls and how to deal with them, or redirect me to infromation on the web about this?
Thanks:)0 -
A key tip is asking for ANY money. Usually its ether "oh look" from the post man, a "you won well done!" sometimes with a "could we have your address please to send it out" or a phone call of "did you enter xxx comp? (Which you say yes as if your like me your cant for the life of you remember what you entered there are that many) well congratulations you have won! " Possibly your name and address, their tel number and name. Thats it. No admin fee, no Date of birth, no card details to secure anything. There comps cos their free. I got caught once but got my money back due to long distance selling laws. It meant when I did get a big win my mother wouldnt let me get excited till the post with all the docs turned up. Heck we were on it and she wouldnt believe it, constantly ready for a bill to appear LOLThe will to save every money saving penny we can0

Thanks for that
.
Just one last question - One thing that does concern me is the DOB entries (i.e mandatory DOB) sometimes for registration sometimes just to enter the competition, you would think they would just ask for age. any one any thoughts on this?
Thanks again:)0 -
something some people do is put their DOB as 1 day out. So if its the 13th, put the 14th. If its ever queried, oh dear my curser slipped. I do put my DOB but unless its an over 18 type prize I cant think of any reason to tell them again. I gave my DOB for my big win on the comp form but it was never asked for againThe will to save every money saving penny we can0
