  • Beware of the Planet49 Service Team EuroMillion lottery syndicate Scam. The say you get 48 chances for £4.95 per week - = 10p per chance v/s Cost of each EuroMillion Lottery of £2. BUT, they do not say how many are in each Syndicate and what your share of any win in a single lottery would be.

    Hi guys
I've just had an email with a £10 Amazon Voucher. It says it is from Sky Living - Katie Eos Survey. Sent by Jo@ SKY
Hand on heart, I don't remember entering. The email looks ok but I just wondered if anyone on here knows about it.
There is a clicky link to Amazon to redeem said Voucher, but I'm rather hesitant to click it just incase it is a scam.

    Hey Jai,

My Hubby uses Microsoft Outlook Express through MS Office 2007.
Unlike Yahoo, Google, AOL etc who are just interested in the hits or money, MSOE has special facilities to set reciepts & notifications.
My Hubby has his set to receive automatic delivery notification and read receipts when completed.
He has also set not read and deleted without being read advisory notices.

For example, with regard to the Makro one above, denial of the Recipient not reading the email or deleting it is not an option, as MSOE is licensed software under Binary Code.
Under this messages internet headers, it clearly shows the term "Report type: Disposition Notification".
This is unequivocal proof that his competition entry was deleted and not read.
    How about that for unfair?
I wonder how many other compers they have done this to?

Excellent software Jai, better than RM Recorded Delivery and/or Track & Trace.

    Finally,
Yes, I think you should send them an email, as all entrants who have recieved the 15% voucher should do, this will send a clear message to these companies that we compers will not tolerate being made fools of!

    Good Luck:)

Okay, so this is all due to my gullibility and I don't blame anyone but myself and now I'm preparing myself for the worst.
So this photo shoot studio called Allure calls me, saying I've won an experience as I entered a competition (this I remember, btw, so I wasn't suspicious). After 15 minutes of explaining what it entailed (repeating, of course, that I will not be obliged to buy the photos as I was a competition winner), I was getting pretty overwhelmed. I didn't think the deposit of £45 was strange as I know all studios require it, so I paid. The identical amount was taken from my account and I was also sent a voucher and a receipt of the payment. After paying, it suddenly clicked (slightly too late, I know) that it might be a scam - I went on their Facebook page and they had just signed up, had no "Like"s or anything and while I'm not a huge FB fan, I knew it was slightly suspicious. The same was on their Twitter website. Unfortunately, the woman on the phone had been very helpful and it all seemed to add up. (A very skilled seller). The company operates under two names (Skylite Makeovers and Allurestudios) and there are no reviews online on Allure and very bad ones on Skylite from people in the same position as me. Now, I'm just wondering, what are my rights here? I know I can't legally get the refund back as the scamming company is in the right at the moment, but I'm trying to figure out as to how I'll fight them when I eventually do go there and they begin pestering me for more money. I'm preparing myself for the worst, defiantly refusing to buy any photos and would just like to know what legal rights I actually have and what legal lines I can throw at them when it gets ugly. (And while £45 isn't a huge amount, I am doing this out of principle.)
Any help will be kindly appreciated.

I think with the Motel Rocks competition, according to the facebook page, they have sent out the 15% discounts in addition to the other 10 runners up prizes. It seems lots of people received the discount (Everyone who entered pehaps?) including me.

    Hi Molly,

    Thanks for your post.

Regarding FB, what you don't know is that the three part complaint posted on Motel Rocks wall was Rustinal and that's my Hubby!
What you will observe is their very quick, amusing, short reply.
They claim in that reply "to have given 1 x £200 pize, 10 runner up goody bags and additional 15% vouchers" as they allege they had a good response.

What you can't see on their FB page is both Rustinal's replies, as Motel Rocks were and are blatently competition scamming and Hubby caught them red handed.
Their answer to my Hubby catching them out, was to erase both his replies and then block him from interacting any further.

You have to read my original post and take it in, as there were no 15% voucher runner up prizes.
When Motel Rocks lilsted the comp in May, only 11 prizes were up, 1 main + goody bag and 10 further goody bags.

A month later, competition entrants start receiving emails in their inbox congratulating them on being a runner up in the comp.
However; instead of receiving the stated May runner up prize of a goodybag, Motel Rocks, scammed runners up out of goody bags and gave them 15% vouchers instead.

In addition to the above, when Hubby complained those few days and nights ago, Motel Rocks own website at the time only showed the 11 original prizes.
There was no mention in May, June or after the comp ended of any 15% vouchers that were to be given out.
Hubby complained to Motal Rocks on FB that he'd received an email congratulating him on being a runner up and that he should have received a goody bag, instead Motel Rocks scammed him and palmed him off with a 15% voucher instead.

When he pointed out to Motel Rocks that this action by them is deception and fraud defined, they erased his posts.
    It's as simple as that.

Put it this way Molly and all,
If the 15% vouchers were genuine and an intended prize, Motel Rocks would of said so for example,
Winner receives £200 prize + goody bag, 10 runners up will receive goody bags and as a gesture of goodwill for participating in the competition, a further however many entrants will receive 15% vouchers to spend in our shop.
However; they never said a word.
In addition to this, voucher recipients will note that nowhere on the email that congratulates them for being a runner up, does it state the voucher is for participating in the comp.

In addition again, please also note that when you win something, i.e. main prize or a runner up, you've won therefore; it's free.

To use the 15% off voucher, you have to shop first with Motel Rocks, spend your own money and then enter the voucher code at the checkout.
In reality, this voucher is useless unless you spend money.
Therefore, it is not free and you have won nothing i.e. it's a scam!

In closing, both Hubby and me have spoken by message to many entrants who received the 15% voucher yet not one single runner up we've spoken to, has received a goody bag.
At present, Motel Rocks are just simply one of many companies competition scamming.

Hope this clarifies the points that 15% vouchers were not runner up prizes.
    Todo:)
