Thanks all just had the scam email from planet49. Was dead excited it at first but thought I'd see what you all thought of this company and its not alot! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Guess me winning Apple stuff will have to wait for another comp.

Is there a way to put all these scam/spam companies in one post at the top?
Just an idea, might help people like me who are new to competitions and not very good on the computer!!! ;);)

  • Just had a call from these guys (01702444594) asking for my partner, told them he was at work, to which he said that was fine and i'd do. Alarm bell ringing!
He the says said partner has won a holiday for four to southern Spain or Tenerife valid for 18 months, to which i politely said not interested and hung up!
Phone rings within a second, him again, insisting no catch, partner really has won this. I did say, then how come your telling me not him when i could be a friendly burglar, and more forcefully, not interested.
Phone rings again within seconds, him yet again, saying no, no, no, He REALLY has won a holiday, no catch please don't hang up, i'll tranfer you to our claims department.
Hmm, she starts the gumf again and i can barely hear her over all the noise in background (which i'm now listening to,not her, and suprise suprise i can hear all the other sales persons saying same things)
Now after being told no catch, she says we have to pay £29.50 pp booking fee and attend one of there meetings, as we (me) don't know who they are.
Told her to go away not interested in timeshares, and picked up my sons whistle from his train box and blew it as hard as i could down the phone till she hung up. lol.:rotfl:
Good job we don't enter holiday comps or i might of been taken in when he phoned back, but as i suffer from crohn's and none of us own a passport, i don't enter them.
Also, i'm pretty sure if my partner had won such a comp (don't know how as he doesn't do any) i'm sure genuine ones would want to speak to him not me (who could of been any one).
He was so insistent though i could see how some people could get caught up and taken in, it really shouldn't be allowed.:(

I just had a call. I thought the guy said SLC but it must have been CLC, Club La Costa. He said I had won a competition from a survey I did in 2010. As I do comps all the time I could not remember. He said I had won a competition to one of their resorts in Europe, a 7 night holiday for 4 people. He asked me to confirm my details which I did in case it was a real comp (I did not realise he had said CLC at the time). He said I would have to pay a booking fee and he would transfer me to the claims dept. At this point I hung up. The phone rang again but I did not pick up as my gut feeling was that it was a con. Seems I was right.

I received this call today from phone no:08009886006 ..and a lot of missed calls from the same number..they said that they were from TV Choice ..who I never have had trouble from before and said exactly the same as above...told them I wasnt interested...and twenty mins later they phoned again saying exactly the same!!!!Gave them a bit of my mind.
The thing is I dont think they are really associated with tv choice as from the noise in the background it sounded like a call centre and also seems to be based outside of the Uk
I have emailed tv chice about this and am just waiting for their reply so will update asp.

    Reply:

    Thank you for your email.

With regard to your query, unfortunately, this sounds like a hoax phone call to me. We contact all competition winners by post, on tvchoice headed paper, and then contact them again to arrange delivery of prizes.

However, I shall pass your email onto our Promotions department in case this was a legitimate telephone call.

    With best wishes,

iv just had that and she started saying all my details, i said i didnt want to go any further as i was concerned it could be a scam and the woman got incredibly short with me repeating that the phonecall was being recorded and that if i didnt want to win a prize i should not enter competitions so that i didnt waste their time!
she didnt even say id been shortlisted in this case she said she wanted to check that im over 18

she said it was the tv choice competition to win numerous apple products and £10,000 - i know for a fact i wont have entered it as i never bother entering competitions for apple products! (not that i dislike them i've just heard the majority are scams)

the number i recieved the call from was also 08009886006 the same as the one above!

Very confused - got a green envelope posted through the door on Friday only opened it today.
    And it states....
That £100,000 is up for grabs for me - I just have to reply to an orange tracked post envelope that will be coming through my door in the next 72 hours????

All seems very strange - not an obvious win....
Just looked up their website and it seems more legit
    https://www.readersdigest.co.uk/prizedraw

It addressed to me in name and letter is personalised to my name and address.

Anyone else have experience of this?

Readers Digest comps are always on the go.
that'll be the first one you have the next one will be asking you to send back the draw numbers along with a YES or NO stamp stating whether you want to subscribe.
    The prizes are apparently legit.
Thanks to those that post the comps!!
