No you can get it free, depending on what contract you go for.

So the old 8GB on pay as you go is still £342.50. I thought they were supposed to be coming down in price?

Whatever, wont bother trying to be helpful next time. And it's not tosh, it's from reviews of the presentation and the live blog of the presentation itself.

i was watching the presentation, and what you were saying wasn't mentioned in it at all..

be helpful by all means, but be factual as well..

prices are online on o2's website, and they're drastically different from the current prices.

    18 month plans / £30 / £35 / £45 / £75

    iPhone 3G 8gb - £99 / £99 / Free / Free
    iPhone 3G S 16gb - £184.98 / £184.98 / £87.11 / Free
    iPhone 3G S 32gb - £274.23 / £274.23 / £175.19 / £96.89

The old iphone 16gb was around £160 on an 18 month at £35, so that's a definite increase this year, The 8gb iPhone 3g hasn't changed price at all!

Ok at the moment I’m on Simplicity as I’ve been waiting for the new Iphone to be released. Currently I’m paying £19.58 for 600 mins 1200 texts and unlimited internet. I’m on a 30 day rolling contract.
    I’m looking at the 32GB Iphone 3GS.

    Option 1:
No Contract Buy the Iphone on pay as you go: £538.30 Simplicity £19.58 plus a presume I will be able to chose another bolt-on since you get 12 months of free internet & wifi when buying the iphone on pay as you go.
Total price based on 24 months: £1008.22
Equivalent price per month (based on 24 months) £42.01

    Option 2:
18 Month £34.26 contract, only 500 text as opposed to 1200 and one less bolt-on. Phone costs £274.23
Total price (based on 24 months changing to simplicity after 18) £1008.39
Equivalent price per month (based on 24 months) £ 42.02

    Option 3:
24 Month £34.26 contract, same deal as Option 2 but 24 month contract.
    Phone costs £175.19
Total price based on 24 months £997.43
Equivalent price per month (based on 24 months) £ 41.56

At the moment option one is looking the most attractive, although it’s a bigger outlay to begin with, I’m not tied into any contract and get a bit more for my money. Anyone got any ideas how to get the price down at all?

When does the exclusivity deal end with O2? When it happens I suspect the PAYG prices will go down.

Yeah, i'm in a similar situation, but tied into a contract with an existing iPhone.

I've worked it out, that my option is best to buy the PAYG phone, and I've only got 6 months on a contract left..
