    Onward & upward, Mooloo!
  • Big hugs Mooloo! It's a shame that they can't put their feelings aside and get on with it. Oh well, more time for you to do what you love! xxx
  • sending you a hug too. try and forget it
  • Hugs Mooloo, never look back.
I do alterations for people & some are very stingy when you consider it takes electricity, if done on a machine, & the thread used. Someone I work with asked me to shorten a pair of trousers, she's asked at the local dry cleaners & they wanted £10, I said I'd do it for £3, when she collected them she gave me £1, saying 'I think that's all the job is worth, as the trousers are very small!' Needless to say I won't do any more work for her.

HH, that's so mean - I think I would have said "ooh, there's a loose thread" and proceeded to undo 2/3 of the job, returning them with a comment like "There you go, that's £1's worth" :D :rotfl:

Hello, I am back again. I have licked my wounds. DS had come in at the same time. He had a fall out with one of his mates (the one I thought he was attached at the hip too?), and his mate had told him he had to get all his stuff out, give back the mobile phone he had given him, before he threw it all in the brook.) The guy lives beside the brook.
So I had to drive over and collect his bag and his wallet/driving license etc.
DS was in tears. That is something that I hardly have ever seen. Even when he was little. My heart went out to him, as the text message was really nasty.
When I spoke to ex-mates dad, when collecting his stuff, the dad didnt know what to say, and said he didnt understand it at all. Down to another "friend" apparantly.
    nice friends.
So both of us went around Tesco on the way back, and indulged in some comfort food. Pain eu Chocolait, mmm Tortilla chips, mmmmm

So its onwards and upwards for both of us. Or at least I hope it is.

Hardup Hester. I think that your cheap skate associate should be shown up in public for her behaviour. !! Some subtle comment infront of someone she thinks she can express.
I would have said to her that if she didnt pay up the agreed amount, you wouldn give her back the trousers!.
At least when I used to sew, nobody refused to pay me after had done the work.

This time around, I am just doing what I feel like doing.
If I can make a few pennies out of selling things or repairs for locals then thats fine. But I think it will be a bit few and far between!.

Now I have a few things to catch up on, and then I will set aside my next 4 hours to potter and look through the pile that has become my dining room table, and see what I can produce out of what I have got.!
Time to put on my positive switch again.
Thanks for all the hugs.! I do feel better now.

Mooloo, please don't take the comments from the shop personally, it very often is the case that it's hard for someone who was an employee to go back as a volunteer - for everyone. They'll know you used to do things one way, you'll know things have changed, even if any comments you make aren't meant critically people sometimes hear them that way.

We discourage former staff from coming back as volunteers: if they do, it's only after a good long gap.

Well when I offered they should have said thanks but no thanks, not ask me to fill in a form so I was covered for insurance etc!.Then give me 2 hours worth of work. Without a problem!. Any way, as Hester said. Onwards and upwards. There are lots of idea to keep me busy, when I am able. ANd as you have pointed out, If I am having a bad day, this way it doesnt matter. I might as well earn a few pennies for all my efforts.

  • Hi Mooloo

I wonder if after you left from volunteering yesterday if the new manager felt threatened by the thought of you volunteering in case you wanted your old job back? I know that wasn't your intention but people ca easily feel threatened expecially when you sounded like you were very competent at the job and was passionate about it.

So try and look at it that its not anything that is 'wrong' with you it is something that they need to deal with and their issues if that makes any sense.

Poor DS too, loss of friendship is really hard especially when they were so close by the sounds of it.

    Take care

Hi Mooloo dont let other peoples comments get you down. I bet they are back stabbing each other whilst being all smiles to their face. I hated working with people who gossiped and !!!!!ed behind peoples backs.
