Tesco stopping free plastic bags - by stealth?

You lot are lucky. I spend half my life taking items out of bags to put in my own. You have to scream and shout and dance about to try to get the drones to not shove stuff in bags unnecessarily. Even if I take the old back out and wave it in their faces they still autonomically use a new one.0

my suggestion is for supermarkets to have boxes at the checkouts... they have o get rid of the boxes so why not save their expenses and help save the bag!!0

Not so easy to lug a load of shopping home in on foot though. Okay for getting it to the boot of the car I suppose.
 Perhaps supermarkets could give you free carrier bags if you don't redeem a parking payment slip - that way you could either drive and use your own bags or their boxes, or if walking you'd be given the bags you need.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

There is no official policy for different types of bags but I generally take into account bigger bags. I add points on based on the number of standard bags I think you have saved generally. Like many of the elderly use shopping trolleys, I will normally give 4 or 5 points in that case if they have a lot of shopping.
Plus the way bags need to be added on the tills isn't as straightforward as Tescos till system, which is why they might end up being forgotten in Sainsburys. Plus you need to give us a few seconds to add them on at the end, don't go shoving your debit/credit card in straight away if you can see the cashier is still pressing buttons on the till as it stops us from accessing the menu to add points.0 -
I was kicking myself today, as I grabbed a couple of closing-time bargains that came to 80p, so I didn't bother getting my Nectar card out as it has to be £1 spent to get any points. When I checked my receipt it showed one own bag used, and said "using a Nectar card would have gained you one point" (can't find receipt now, can't remember actual wording).
I think if I get het up about missing one Nectar point, maybe it is time I got a life! :rotfl:I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Tesco actually pay you for using your own bags.
At, say, 8 green clubcard points per week, that's 52 * 8 = 416 pts a year = £16.64 in deals.
Alright, it won't buy you a castle in Spain, but it's still better than a kick in the teeth.0 -
I hope they do stop them, maybe then I'll finally start remembering to take one of the dozen or so reusable ones I have. I even have the cloth ones, and yet have absolutely no memory whatsoever when it comes to actually taking them to the shop!LittleMissInDebt0

i dont know wot all the fuss is about... wot do u mean u wont pay for a carrier bag to help the supermarket with advertising... People pay over the odds to get a piece of clothing advertising a particular brand.....i.. sportswear...Nike,..puma... etc...
or any brand...
No-one other than lower-class [can't think of anything mild enough to insert here] wears trash like that.0 -

well the cashier can pull the payment card out and add the points for the bags or they can do this in sainsburys,0
