Hiya all, long time no see :) Been on my holidays, and now have 13 pages of thread to catch up on!

Hope you are all ok, (((hugs))) to those of you that need it.

Haven't PADed while I've been away, but I have my monthly debt pot waiting to be distributed (plus a little extra in the way of a refund for my old car's road tax :) ) so once I've caught up, I'll post a PAD or two

    Sx

Hi Sarah :hello: Nice to see you back!

Hi again, I'm afraid to say that i have fell off the wagon somewhat although my debt at the moment is not much different from last time i posted it will soon be a bit more although i have had a holiday of sorts visiting a long lost family member of my OH who very kindly fed and housed us for a few days at the seaside. I still have our main holiday booked and paid for to go on this week with no spending money saved (scary!)
So i will be back on the PAD early Sept with a vengeance i really do need to get this paid off!
Feeling a bit down about it at the mo because we really needed a holiday this year but the money would go a long way to paying our debt off.

    Hi njk0327 :hello:
Nice to see you back! Don't beat yourself up about falling off the wagon - it happens to us all. As for the holiday, I know what you mean, but there comes a time when you need a break and once your batteries are fully recharged you can come back and attack those debts with gusto!
We're al with you, so any time you need support - just holler! ;)
Take care and enjoy your holiday x

    Another £4 from me.
I took out a dreaded storecard before I went away to buy a few clothes for holiday.
I haven't got it on my debt list as I will be paying it off before the due date. The £4 is the minimum payment which I have made just in case something goes wrong and I can't pay it off.

Here's an odd thing. I went into the store (Burton) to buy a few t-shirts, underwear, swimwear etc and proffered the store card that I've had with them for a few years. The system rejected it. Apparently, if you don't use it for more than 3 months, the account gets deleted from the system. I asked the person in the store if Burtons had ever considered doing something totally radical such as actually writing to the account holder and telling them that the account is deleted (it was sarcasm on my part but good humoured). Anyway, it's no problem to open a new account on the spot. New accounts incur a 10% discount on the initial purchases so the £90 I spent became £81 - therefore their inability to write to me saved me a few quid. Even if I don't manage to pay it off until next month, the estimated interest is a disgusting £2.02. However, this would still be a saving of £6.98 on the original purchase price so it's not totally negative.

Now it seems to me that there is a good money saving wheeze here. Ensure that I don't use the account for a few months (including payments). Go to Burton's. Get a new account. Save 10% each time. I also note that the account is linked to female clothing shops too so this info may be of interest to some of the ladies on here (but not to me honestly - please believe me (do I protest too much LOL)).
Obviously this is only of use if the account is paid up when you get the bill (or for a smaller saving - the second bill). Also, it's only relevant if you only buy things that you would have bought with cash or other card anyway.
It is also important to note that a check is made even though you still have an old unused account. I don't know if this is just an internal check or if it is a proper search that is logged. It could be possible to lose the facility completely if your affairs are not in order (I note that my new credit limit was £400 instead of the previous £500).
Approval was given over the instore phone allowing me to use the facility pending the card's arrival. I've already received my first bill even though I've not yet received the card.
So - a way of getting 10% discounts on clothing so long as you use the facility properly.

    Morning everyone,

I'm afraid, Macgirl, that my pads will be few and far between (if at all) as I am now officially skint till payday on the 30th. How on earth do people manage to afford holidays? I only spent about 200 quid on this trip to London including hotels and food, and its completely cleared me out? I would have saved up but I was too busy padding all my spare money! :rotfl:

I do still have some money in my account but I have got to go shopping to buy some new work clothes as my old ones are all too big :j

On the bright side, most of my ebay items are doing well and they finish tonight which should be exciting as they have loads of watchers, and also I am STILL waiting :mad::mad: for my marking money to come through! They ate so slow, I've rang them about 3 times, emailed them, and still nothing. The mmost annoying thing is, when yoju email them you get an automatic response back saying that they will reply within 5 days... I've emailed them numerous times, the first being in July, and NEVER had one back from them

Anyway enought ranting, have a lovely sunday everyone xx
Ths signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it... :o
