Further to my first reply to you above, I've just noticed that you're in Northern Ireland.... hence I'm not sure if you can use those two telephone numbers I've given you.

    HOWEVER....

Did a search or two and came across the following:

    Debtline NI - www. debtlineni .org - 0800 027 4990

(It is run by CCCS which is great. I had to put the spaces in the web address as this site won't let me post links as I'm too new!)

You should in theory also be able to contact National Debtline as in my first reply, but not 100%.

    :)

Thank you very much to everyone for your help and support. I called Debtline NI and gave them all the details and they said they should be able to help so fingers crossed!

  • hi I was just about to start my DMP so I cancelled all my direct debits but I have just found out my account has gone over my overdraft limit because all the direct debits went through. Has anyone else had this happen before? I cancelled them via hsbc online banking.

If the account you canceled them from is to become a creditor on the dmp i wouldnt worry to much, it will just mean you ballance will be higher than you thought due to the paid dd`s.
I would still phone up the bank and tell them they were canceled online but still wen through but as i said if the overdraft is to become a creditor then dont worry to much as it means this months dd are paid...this may sound bad but afte 3 years of dealing with the creditors i think sod it if its to your benifit.

I think with direct debits they need a certain amount of time to process the cancellation, so if you have a direct debit that was due to come out a few days after you cancel you would have been too late for this payment. Have a feeling this will probably be the case as I cancelled all mine through HSBC online banking and I didn't have any problems.

Canceled dd varies from bank to bank, my safe account has been the co-op cashminder from the start of my dmp and if i can cancel dd`s online the same day they leave and the money is always there next day so can cancel them on the day but different for each bank.

    Good luck!!

Kudox, was that Natwest or actually RBS?

mcrfan, is it a course to further your career or just a course you want to do? Worth asking I guess but if it's just a course you fancy doing it might not go down too well!
    Hi Daffy it was RBS.

    Hi Kudox

I've just had the same papers from Northern Rock. I've sent back the admission forms with the CCCS budget & expenditure spreadsheets attached which also shows our earnings.

Does this mean we'll automatically receive a CCJ or could NR come back and agree to what we're now offering them (had a review with CCCS last month so they're now receiving a bit more from us)?

    thanks
    Em
Hi as far as I'm aware NR could come back and accept the amount, and I think in this case the court doesn't get involved. In my case the amount I offered was refused, so thats why the court ruled and i got a CCJ (even though the amount was exactly the same)
It never ceases to amaze me how creditors treat everyone so differently, NR are one of my creditors and they accepted the DMP right away and I've not heard a word from them since. I've probably put a jinx on that now:rotfl:

Hello All, I thought I'd make an appearance on here after lurking big time and popping in occasionally to ask daft questions (which I have been assured aren't daft!). I have been so moved and encouraged by everyone's stories on this forum (and particularly this thread) - I've had a horrible month racked with anxiety about facing my debts (well, a horrible year so far with family illness and bereavements too) and have seen so many others going through the same thing, so I realise I'm not alone, and also there is hope. Everyone so far has been so kind and helpful when I've posted.

Anyway, I have £38.5K of credit cards/overdraft on my head, and after reading on this forum and talking to some lovely people at National Debtline I have an application pack to start a DMP with Payplan (big fingers crossed it all goes through).

The stage I'm at now - filling in my Payplan appication pack. I sent "Hold Action" letters to my creditors a week ago, and it's been mysteriously quiet except for Egg noticing I've cancelled my Direct Debit. I'm waiting for my safe bank account to be ready and slightly anxious about that (aside from all the other things to be anxious about!).

I have a question for now re: Egg and the direct debit - I sent my HA letters just first class, which now I'm regretting because I'm not sure if they've been received. I sent the letter to Egg before I cancelled the DD but wonder if I should send another one, this time recorded, mentioning I'd sent a letter previously, using a similar format, but just mentioning also that that was why I cancelled the DD. Or should I just leave alone until the next stage. I don't really want to speak to them on the phone. I'm not sending token payments yet untiil I get paid at the beginning of next month, and was going to do this as the next stage until my DMP is set up.

Also, I've noticed round and about people mention not signing any letter you send - is this correct? I didn't sign these letters but wonder if I ought to have.

It's all like this at the moment, racked with indecision about silly things, never mind the Big Things!

EDIT: To Kochanski who posted earlier, I'm so sorry about your Mum.
