Really to sorry to hear your sad news.

I like your fighting talk though - stay strong and everything will get sorted one way or another.

As per capcom99's advice, do not delay and get talking to someone who can potentially get the ball rolling for you.

    PayPlan - call them on 0800 716 239

Alternatively contact National Debtline on 0808 808 4000

    Both are free calls.

£8000 owing may be a lot to you, but compared to many it is quite a small amount.

A DMP may not be an option for you, but talk to the people above and they will help.

As long as you deal with the issue, be fair, honest and responsible, it will all work out.

Keep us posted as to how you get on.

    :)

Hi all, I've posted on the site on a few occasions for different things but I really need your help again. I'm 26 and I have been a full-time carer for my mother for the past 2 1/2 years and 'unoffically' before this. During this time I have run up around £8000 worth of catalogue and overdraft debt and managed to keep up the repayments with a lot of help from my mother.

Last week my mother sadly died and I am left with the huge pressure of debts I can no longer afford. With the current climate I am unsure of when I will be able to find work and even if I do I doubt it'll be high paid (I do have a degree but it's not worth a lot). Mainly my reason for posting is to ask a few questions about DMP's if you lovely people don't mind.

Is there a minimum amount required to enter a DMP as I have around £90 coming in from residual benefits for the next month or so and a lot of outgoings to take into account also (I have a house to run on my own now, which I will fight tooth and nail to keep hold of as it's all my mum had to leave me).

Will the company do all the sorting out or will I still receive letters from crediters demanding payment? (all payments up until now have been up to date but not for much longer).

Sorry if these are silly questions but I'm in a bit of a panic about it all and don't really know what to do.

    Thanks for your help. :)

Further to my first reply to you above, I've just noticed that you're in Northern Ireland.... hence I'm not sure if you can use those two telephone numbers I've given you.

    HOWEVER....

Did a search or two and came across the following:

    Debtline NI - www. debtlineni .org - 0800 027 4990

(It is run by CCCS which is great. I had to put the spaces in the web address as this site won't let me post links as I'm too new!)

You should in theory also be able to contact National Debtline as in my first reply, but not 100%.

    :)

Kochanski, so sorry to hear your news!! hope you are bearing up ok, can't help to have all this to deal with too!

No extra advice, just want to agree that you shold ring national debtline for advice!!

    Good luck!!

Kudox, was that Natwest or actually RBS?

mcrfan, is it a course to further your career or just a course you want to do? Worth asking I guess but if it's just a course you fancy doing it might not go down too well!

    Hi

I have since written to CCCS to get there view on the matter, and this was there reply.
    Hi

    Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately If Lloyds are not willing to stop charges then you will need to keep sending payments until the debt is paid off.

What Lloyds may do is pass the debt to another collector, If they do this there is more of a chance that the interest will stop or even reduce.

    Kind regards

So i'm thinking now that I could be paying off Lloyds for many many years to come with the amount of interest being added. :(

this is a bit of a worry!! certainly not what PP told me (or you).

My overdraft has now been handed over to someone else (after the sh1tty phonecall i endured with them)! So i guess i have to wait and see if the interest and charges have been stopped! i know the nasty natwest guy told me this wasn't necessarily the case!

I agree with dlb, might be worth actually speaking to them about it! I seriously wonder about their logic sometimes! they really don't help!

oh and i hope i don't get defaults etc 2 years down the line! i'd rather have them all now, so they are out of the way!

(I haven't done my filing for a while. i need to do it and see where i'm at with everyone!)

    Hi Jay

Sorry if someone's already responded to this but I've not read through all messages yet.

I sent an email through the Full Forum FAQ. You will get an automated email back, but at the bottom of that message it says something along the lines of "if your request is urgent please email us at blah blah).

If you get stuck anywhere, give me a shout back

Hey TP, the CCJ I got was from RBS who had passed my debt on to their in-house collectors Triton, I had written confirmation from Triton that they would accept my DMP payment for a further 6 months, but then I heard from a company called Incasso saying they'd taken it over.
I told cccs this and they said they would redirect the payments, but then only about a week later I had court papers from Northampton from Incasso. I had to fill in the admission form which included a budget section and I sent a copy of the cccs budget with it. The court made the judgement for exactly the same amount as I was paying before so they didn't gain anything:rolleyes:
I didn't get an attachment of earnings so not sure what circumstances would bring that about.
I was really p****d off about it, it was not as if I was refusing to pay, and thought about defending it, but in the end at least the debt is now a fixed amount, RBS were still piling on the interest so the debt was just increasing all the time. I would have asked for the CCA but it was an overdraft debt so not covered.
I was worried the CCJ would mean I couldn't make a F&F in the future if I am ever in that position:rolleyes: but cccs said I would still be able to negotiate with them.
I asked cccs about defending the claim but was told they couldn't help with that.
Ironically RBS have just refused our bank charge claim under hardship on the grounds that we have sufficient income to cover all our debts, that clearly is a nonsense when they've taken me to court to recover there debt!! And what they owe us in bank charges would cover the debt!!
Anyway they've shot themselves in the foot really, I'll carry on paying the piddling little amount the court says I have to, and it'll take years to pay off:rotfl:

    Hi Kudox

I've just had the same papers from Northern Rock. I've sent back the admission forms with the CCCS budget & expenditure spreadsheets attached which also shows our earnings.

Does this mean we'll automatically receive a CCJ or could NR come back and agree to what we're now offering them (had a review with CCCS last month so they're now receiving a bit more from us)?

    thanks

    Quick question.
I need to make my first ever token payment today as my DMP isn't starting until next month..
Is it OK to send a cheque from my new 'safe' bank account or does it have to be a postal order?

    Thanks in advance :o

Hmmmmm.....I would send a postal order....not that I dont trust the banks(yeah right),but that means they will have your new account details.....I wouldn't feel comfortable sending a chq from my "new" account......this is just my personal opinion though
