Hiya,
I agree with TP,
the username is cool - I had to e-mail the nice people that run this site (coo eey, hello Martin) as I initially signed up with my real full name - doh !!
Welcome and don't worry it will all be ok, well as long as the good people of this thread don't all win the lottery and leave us.....;)
have a good night,

why only £1?
Payplan suggested any token payment is fine as long as you do not go above the DPM payback threshold....
Wouldn't paying the creditors slighty more not annoy them so much?
I was thinking £15 to each of my 6 creditors....
It's £1 so you can build up a slush fund, and it's a token payment so it shows you are still keen to pay your creditors.
And finally if you pay your creditors £15 each and your DMP payment to them is say £5, they're going to want to know why you can't pay the £15 again, if that makes sense?DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -
Just applied online for the Halifax basic account for OH, hopefully we'll get the account details this week.
He gets paid on the 24th, so I'll get him to ring payroll to switch accounts this week and everything should be in place next month. Trying to do as much of the organising as possible for him as his work situation is stressful at the mo and all this might just be too much for him to cope with!
So.... bank account in place - the only dds to creditors are blackhorse and egg which go out around the first I think. Really don't want to pay them this month... money down the drain, so must ring payplan/cccs this week too and get the ball rolling.
So this is my planned order of action, please tell me if I've got anything the wrong way round/missed anything out! :
1. Open Halifax account
2. Apply for dmp with payplan/cccs
3. If accepted cancel Direct Debit payments to creditors
4. Switch salary payment and utility direct debits to new account
5. Send out £1 token payment to creditors with letter informing of dmp
6. Wait for phonecalls and nasty letters!
7. Try this reclaiming charges and unenforcable agreements lark.2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0 -

Hi, I will be managing my own DMP and I wondered about which addresses I should send the request letters? should I send them to the address on the statement where payments should be made, and in the case of HBOS who I have two different cards with under Halifax and Intelligent Finance, should I send them just the one letter or to each of them via Halifax and IF??
Thanks0 -
Hi everyone
Im new to this thread. I am just started on a DMP with payplan. I'm really nervous about the whole thing especially when the caseworker told me sometimes you can have a CCJ filed against you and after that they can go for your house. I hope Im doing the right thing but cant see any other way of breaking out of the debt cycle im in.0 -
Hi debfreewish (and all)
We spoke with Payplan for the first time yesterday and are due a call from an assessor in the week, so we could soon be joining you!
Ultimately various things could be tried with regards going for your house etc. however (and I know it is easy to say this but I'm in a similar boat to you!) it is not as bad as it sounds.
Just because they "can go for it" doesn't mean they will get anything!
As long as you are honest, fair and responsible you have nothing to worry about.
Being in a DMP means you are taking responsibility and not just burying your head in the sand and hoping it will all go away.
Stick with it, be strong and some way or another we will ALL get through things.0
