thinking about taking out dmp but not sure with who- any advice appreciated thanks.
Have a look at nationaldebtline.co.uk
I set up my own DMP using NDL template letters and income/expenditure decalration. It can be tough in the early stages, but trust me, you will get there.
Feel free to PM me if you want any help with your DMP or how to deal with creditors or DCA, I have loads of experience!
Or just check out the threads here, allways loads of help available.
Welcome to the site.

Libby, it might seem scary now but the charities are really helpful and will not judge you. They've heard it all before.
I used to dread the phone calls/post before I started but now I get upset if they don't contact me. I rather enjoyed my little chin wags with them :rotfl:

I am 4 years into a DMP with Payplan and these companies do not want you to go into a DMP consolidation like Payplan or CCS. It means these lose an amount of control over your account and they get a "share" of your available income rather than what they think they should have. Try very hard to persuade them quickly to reduce or freeze interest, but beware I was meant to finish my DMP over one year ago, but all reduced and frozen interest was added then as I was no longer in financial crisis and could afford it. Needless to say I am still paying ;-(LBM: March, 2005

Hi I have read so much my mind is whirling...
Just wondered is anyone with CCCS/Payplan and actually paid any F&F'S? I wasn't sure if it is possible when you are on a DMP or if the amount had to be split pro rata?

Hi Jilly
Wow didn't realise they could do that, what a nightmare! How much longer do you have left to pay - if you don't mind me asking.
Thanks for you advice.

I struggled with MBNA where my balance actually went up for the first two years - yes up! They were putting payments on some 25 days after paying and put late charges and overbalance charges based on that. In Sept 2008 I reclaimed charges and was originally offered £500!! I replied with a taped telephone conversation with one of their aggressive collections officers who had me cowering in a corner 3 times a day and I got back £3,917 which brought my balance down to what I had actually paid them over the two years. I now owe them only £114 and they are awaiting my last two payments to close the account. Fight them in writing, it works in the end. You are entitled not to be intimidated when they call. Be strong.LBM: March, 2005

I was originally told 26 months on DMP and Payplan were great. After two years I was kind of left on my own, although most annoying calls stopped. I did some reclaiming and some fighting. I started with £12, 500 debt which should have been paid at 26 months, but then the bills kept creeping up. Last October I had £156 balance total over 5 creditors then 2 of them put interest on taking it back up over £1,400. I was horrified, but Payplan told me there was nothing they could do. I asked them about full and final offers and I was told by them to offer no less than 80% of the balance, I just couldnt do it, so here I am one year later still paying..... My balance today is about £800 and pence and I have sent full and final offers to all creditors (not through Payplan) as my job is currently in jeopardy with this credit crunch I have had no payrise for 12 months. I have paid off what I spent, now let me live my life I say.
I wish you all the luck.LBM: March, 2005

Hi everyone!! :j
I've not heard a peep out of anyone for.. ooh at least 2 months!! Its so lovely not to have to worry about how much I was going to be paid each month and who wouldnt get paid. I have 2 final payments going out in the next week or so - one I have been paying on an arrangement with Lowell since 2007, and one for a small store card debt that I originally included in my DMP but Kensington told me the chance of Lowell accepting DMP was low  so I just bit the bullet and paid it. None of my debts are particularly huge, but I had so many of them everything spiralled out of control so quickly!!
Im now gearing up to do battle with Moorcroft (JD Williams) for my mate - when she sent them a CCA request they replied with a forged one!! This is going to be interesting I think....!!!!!!!*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
Morning,
Am about to post all my "stuff" back to CCCS, hoping to start DMp July or August. Just wanted to thank you al soooooo much for the support. It doesn't seem nearly as scarey when you are not alone.
I'm sure you'll get sick of all my questions soon, but I do believe that knowledge is power.
Big virtual hugs to you all
