    Hi,
I've just had my phone interview with payplan.
To be honest, I felt like the lady interviewing me was in a bit of a rush, she certainly wasn't that sympathetic and rushed through
    Anyway..

I've set the ball rolling and she advised me that a case worker should contact me in the next few days (hopefully they won't be in such a rush!)
She said first thing I need to do is it change my bank account as I'm currently with Lloyds and most of my debt is with Lloyds.

I've just applied for a Barclays account, does anyone know how long it takes to be accepted? I get paid on 26th of the month and I'm not sure what to do if my new account isn't set up by then
Also, she said I should just make token payments to my creditors this month but I'm not sure how I do that when I normally pay by DD, I don't have a paying in slip to use?
Should I cancel my loan DD right now, payment is due to come out on 1st of the month.

I know lots of people are doing a DMP but I have to say that it still feels very new and weird for me, I always make my minimum payments and have never been overdrawn but then have no money left and put everything else, petrol etc, on CC which is why I'm in this mess
I just can't help thinking, am I doing the right thing? The thought that that the creditors could reject my offer and threaten court action terrifies me, I've never been in trouble with anyone before :(

Also, what happens if I cancel my DD for my lloyds loan, can they still take the money even if there's no money in my account?
This is all such a mess!

Did you apply online or via the branch? If online I doubt it will be sorted for payday, also I would imagine your employer would of needed the bank details by now in order to avoid paying into your old account. Have you defaulted with lloyds yet?
Also, she said I should just make token payments to my creditors this month but I'm not sure how I do that when I normally pay by DD, I don't have a paying in slip to use?
Send postal orders along with a covering letter ( with your reference number on ) explaining you;re in talks with Payplan at the moment and therefore will only be making a token payment this month.
Should I cancel my loan DD right now, payment is due to come out on 1st of the month.
Yes you should, if you're happy to go ahead with the DMP, however if your current account is with the loan company they may still take the DD causing you to go overdrawn ( HSBC ) did this with me.

I know lots of people are doing a DMP but I have to say that it still feels very new and weird for me, I always make my minimum payments and have never been overdrawn but then have no money left and put everything else, petrol etc, on CC which is why I'm in this mess

Well done for taking your first steps. It is very daunting when you first arrange your DMP, but in a month or so you will feel alot more confident. Your main concern at the moment is getting your wage paid into an account safely without your creditors having access to it. Especially if you're going ahead and cancelling your loan DD ( assuming its the same bank as your current account ) Speak to your payroll department and ask them what is the latest date you can give them a new account number for wage due on the 26th, cos I feel it may be too late for you to change this month. If it isn't go direct to a bank and open an account their and then, that way you will have an account number and sort code straight away to hand to your employers. Hope this helps x

Thanks for your help, I SERIOUSLY don't know what I would do without this forum at the moment.
You're right, it does all seem so daunting and scary, I could just sit and cry and cry thinking about it :(
I applied for my Barclays account online but I think I may go into a branch tomorrow and see what they say.

Also, sorry to sound thinck but you asked "have I defaulted with lloyds yet" - what does that mean?
    Thanks again

    Hi
we cancelled our DD with lloyds on the 30th for a loan coming out on the 3rd-they didnt take it on the 3rd,but did take it on the 15th:rolleyes:.However it did gives us time to empty the account and transfer it to the coop, therefore they just made us overdrawn as there was no money to take. They sent a letter saying we had to pay within 7 days after they realised we cancelled the DD.Good luck with it all,we are just setting up a DMP with CCCS and it is daunting,so i know how you are feeling. This thread and board are a lifeline though,so keep posting, theres always someone to help:D

Not thick at all!! All this is new to you, we have all been their ;) anyway have you missed any payments yet with the creditor you hold your bank account with? Incase you aren't sure why I ask, a creditor with whom you hold a bank account with, can basically dip into your bank account and help themselves to any available money to put towards your debts. So for instance, I had a bank account with HSBC, I also had debts with them that I couldn't afford to repay, if I hadnt changed bank accounts, then HSBC would of almost certainly dipped into my bank account and helped themselves to my wages etc to put towards my debts. I hope this makes sense, I aint so good at transferring things from my head to my fingers :rotfl:

    Help need urgently!!!

Received court papers today from Irwin Mitchell re a debt that has been passed to them by CCCS. I had previously requested that RBS provide me with signed credit agreements to support this debt but they have not done so. The loan was only taken out (under pressure from their collection centre to consolidate my debt at a higher interest rate than previously!!) in October last year.

My question is how do I stop the court action?

Hi Seasiders, PM 10past6 ASAP, always been fab at giving advice re court proceedings etc x

  • My first payment to CCCS is due in July, At what point would you suggest that I try to get my credit card late payment and over limit charges refunded ? as this would knock a tiny bit of time off my DFD.

I don't want to rock the boat until things are up and running

  • Evening all

Hope you're all okay and had a good weekend...

It went scarily quiet for a while, since i posted my paperwork back... got a letter from Nationwide today to say they'll accept reduced payments and stop interest for three months:T ... but then what? I also won't get the agreed amount to them by the date they want as it's going through CCCS... shall i just tell them that and quote my ref number? I can't help being dim :o... took great pleasure in cutting up the 'gold' card into tiny pieces and will be sending it back to them tomorrow...

    CA xx

    Part of the Furniture
I have recently started to tackle my credit cards for charges... got 3 of the 5 statements back & sent off the letters with the charges,

Barclaycard - £121.17 - PAID (Off Debt on card)
Barclaycard - £180.37 - PAID (Off Debt on card)
Barclaycard - £216.36 - PAID (Off Debt on card - Now only £46 Outstanding Balance.....

Thats a wopping £517.90 Off my Debts for the cost of a Letter (+£30 for Statements) FANTASTIC!

Stattements arrived today for RBS, crack on with them and see how much I can Claim back on them too.

We have also SOLD our Car for £6,000, clearing the £3900 Finance & saving a wopping £265 a month (Had 16mths left to pay) and able to buy a new car - no finance.

Need to cut down as much as possible as lots of changes soon, Tax Credits will go down soon as youngest daughter starts school in September and my hours are reducing so I am able to spend more time with the kids, currently working 60 hours a week, which is just unsustainable, my health is beginning to suffer and I know I want to pay off the Debts but not at the expense of my health. It will just have to take a bit longer to pay off.

    Any how

    thats my update for today.

    Keep smiling, debts keep declining:rotfl:

  • Hi Again

I have another question regarding my DMP, I've received a letter from one of my creditors acceping my DMP but they state that my first payment is due by 11th July, now CCCS don't distribute to the creditors until the end of the month, so is it up to me to let them know of this or will CCCS inform them.
