(from getting looads of calls)
I have started to get more calls now.. (I dont answer them)
The silent calls.. where just some automated doodaah keeps calling me.. and when I check the number on whocallsme it shows as one of my creditors.
anyhooo.. I found this.

What do I do if I receive a silent call?
Silent calls can be very concerning, particularly if you live alone. However, the vast majority of silent calls that people receive are the result of automated dialling devices used by call centres to call lots of people and are a nuisance rather than malicious. They work by dialling the number automatically and then connecting a call centre agent when the phone is answered. Sometimes no agent is available when you pick up, resulting in a silent call. If you are on such a list you may receive multiple calls in a day.
In March 2006, Ofcom introduced plans to try to prevent these types of calls. Companies using such devices should now play a message telling you who they are if an agent doesn't speak. However, if you do still receive a silent call, it's recommended that you register for free with the Telephone Preference Service. Alternatively you may wish to register your number on the Silent Callguard Service on 0870 4443969. If this doesn't stop the calls, you may need to use advice for malicious calls.
Dunno if it will do any good.. but it might be worth a try.. I registered with both.. it says it can take up to 28days.. (I registered my mobile too on the TPS)
Edited to add: .. I checked my messages on my Landline phone just now.. and it said it was full (only holds 10 tho) .. and every one of them was an automated or silent call.Very proud of trying to deal with my debts. LBM 04/09

aaand.. I'm looking at *Choose to Refuse* .. £11 per quarter from BT .. (but maybe only keep it a few months till it all dies down)
I'm with SKY talk.. and I notice they do it too.. (dunno how much yet) ..
It allows to block 10 numbers from calling.
I have about 4 saved that call me non stop. So they'll be first to be added :rotfl:
as I mentioned up there.. ^ If you want to see who it was that called you.. go to whocallsme and stick the number in there.Very proud of trying to deal with my debts. LBM 04/09

Also I know this is the wrong thread but I have only boiled my kettle once this morning (usually been boiled 5 times by now, read on money saving thread to boil it once and put it into a flask! OH didn't even notice, thought as we're all trying to cut costs would mention it here!!)

To whom it may concern
Dear Sir/Madam
I am writing to ask that you no longer contact me by telephone as your calls are causing me considerable stress due to the frequency, and that they are being made at inappropriate times. Please remove my telephone number from your database and send all future communication in writing to my home address.
I have provided the most recent copy of my income and expenditure to make you aware of my current financial situation. I will continue to make my payment of x on the x of every month and will keep you informed of any changes in my circumstances as I am keen to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
I understand that following this request if you continue to call I can contact the Office of Fair Trading to make a formal complaint.
Please confirm in writing that your records have been amended.
Yours sincerely
(Type. Don’t sign)

Dear Sirs,
Harassment by telephone
Account Number: XXXXXXX
I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing.
I have verbally requested that these stop, but I am still receiving calls. (Delete if necessary)
I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only.
I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine.
Please treat this also as a formal complaint, and send me a copy of your company complaints procedure.
Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company will be recorded. (**Even if you don‘t yet have recording equipment!!**)
Yours faithfully,

Dear Sir / Madam,
Re accounts ref
I am writing to you to inform that I request all communications to me in writing. I do not want any further telephone calls made to me.
To continue to contact me by telephone after I have requested you not to constitutes harassment. I require all future communications in writing for future Court use. Do not telephone me again – remove any telephone numbers you hold for me from your systems.
Your telephone calls are in breach of the Office of Fair Trading guidelines. If you continue with them after the receipt of this letter, an official complaint, together with a log recording the times and frequency will be passed both to that office and to Trading Standards, For your information, all telephone calls are taped.
This type of debt collection method is contrary to the ‘Administration of Justice Act 1970’. In that it is intended to cause alarm and distress to the recipient. Your methods will not be tolerated. A formal complaint to the relevant authorities will be made.
Take further notice that continued telephone calls after receipt of a request not to call may constitute a criminal offence under Section 127 of the Communications Act 2003.
Communicate in writing and ONLY in writing. Your telephone calls will not be answered.
HOWEVER, CALLS WILL TRIGGER COMPLAINTS TO THE REGULATORY BODIES.
I trust I have made myself understood on this matter.
Yours,
SECOND LETTER
Dear Sirs,
RE: Your Client – Grabbit and Runn Credit Card
I refer to my correspondence of (date) regarding the debt that I owe to your above named client. A copy of this correspondence is enclosed herewith, for ease of reference.
Since making my financial position clear to you, I have been constantly harassed by your operatives, who have attempted to intimidate me into making payments that I simply cannot afford to make, under my present circumstances.
I wish you to know, that I am aware of my rights and that your constant telephone calls are a breach of Section 40 of The Administration of Justice Act 1970 and any further incidents of this nature constitute a course of conduct, which is a criminal offence under Section 2 of The Prevention from Harassment Act 1997.
Please note, that whilst I take my obligation to you seriously, I will not tolerate such abuse and if I receive any further telephone calls from your organisation, I will have no hesitation in reporting the matter to The Office of Fair Trading, whom you may be interested to know, are currently encouraging reports of this nature.
I would be obliged if you would kindly acknowledge receipt of this letter and confirm that there will be no further attempts to contact me by telephone. I am entirely happy to communicate with you in writing and would be obliged if you would give my proposals, serious consideration.
Yours faithfully
