Morning,

I had the same as you, I will be honest I ignored the calls cos I am a wimp, it took most of them a couple of weeks to cash the token payments at which point my calls seem to be less frequent now. I would imagine even if you do call and explain the calls would continue anyway! if you go on national debt helpline they have a list of template letter you can send to creditors, I am sure one of the letters states to stop ringing you as it is harrassment and to contact you via letter only. So the moral of the story is " ignore the calls " and once your DMP is up and running it should start to be less frequent x

Thanks

It's strange isn't it that you want to contact your creditors and keep them up to date as to your situation, but you just know that with some of them you are totally wasting your time. You also sort of have a feeling which creditors will be the more difficult to deal with before you even enter into a DMP or miss a payment, from previous call centre experience.

grrrrrrr... flippin Hitachi Capital (who totally ignore me, and anything I have sent them.. and who flatly refuse to give me any payment info for them!) :wall:

Wrote me a stinking letter saying they were 'Very disappointed' in me.. That I 'have failed to respond to our previous attempts to collect the arrears' (less than £40 ) ..

Well!!!.. Not as disappointed as I am in YOU completely ignoring me.. Idiots.

:rotfl:

Anyhooo.. they say if I don't pay up.. they will default my account.. (for a fee of £50)

Which is good!.. Because I already sent them a letter yesterday .. Saying that if (after asking three times) that they STILL refuse to accept my reduced payments.. They may as well default my account, as I cannot pay them more.

Maybe if I get passed to a DCA someone might actually listen to me there instead.

Afternoooon

jeese they have been a flippin nightmare, I think it will defo be better to goto a DCA. How are you getting on with the rest of your creditors? x

Welcome and I'm sure someone will be along soon to give you a number. It doesn't matter who your doing your DMP with, lots of people are using different agencies and some brave enough to do it themselves!!

Hello and welcome. xx

Thank you. :D And yes, I can see you too. ;)

I've been reading through the thread and can see quite a few of the problems people are still having, whoever they go with. If I had the time and the confidences, I'd probably do it myself too. But at the moment, I'm happy to pay someone else to do it.

I've only been reading so far and already I've learned a lot from this thread, I was even able to talk to my advisor yesterday with a bit more knowledge and confidence than when I first spoke to him 2 weeks ago.

He told me that lots of people are having problems with Barclays, Egg (gee, those are 2 of mine), HSBC and LloydsTSB. He didn't mention Hitachi.

After happily moving along with my DMP I've just received notification that Barclaycard have handed me over to Mercer's and they will be contacting me soon... Oh the joy!

Feel like sending Barclaycard a CCA request but after reading other threads on MSE it doesn't seem to do any good as Barclaycard keep ignoring the requests or sending out letters full of meaningless legal jargon.

And just when I thought it was going so well......

Hi,
I'm new here and just after some advice...

Basically, my story is that I have some outstanding debts to various creditors. I always pay my bills on time and have never missed a payment BUT I'm only paying the basic amount each month and so my cretit amount is never really going down. Plus, by the time I've paid all my bills I have no cash left and so am having to put basic's like petrol on my credit card... its a vicious circle!

After having my head buried in the sand for a long time, I have finally admitted that I need help and a DMP may be the option for me. I have contacted payplan and they are phoning me back on Monday for my telephone interview.
I feel quite scared by the whole prospect to be honest. I think the main worry being that I'm going to be in trouble with my creditors for the first time ever and the talk of court judgements and things terrifies me.

I just have a few questions if anyone could help me?

1) What if a creditor refuses to accept the deal made by payplan, what then?

2) I think I read somewhere that being on a DMP can affect your mortgage, is this true (we are currently on a 3 year fixed rate)

3) What would happen if I got made redundant, would payplan offer insurance to cover this?

4) I have some small amounts that I owe, like £53 to my catalogue and £200 to new look - should I include these on my DMP or just the big ones which are my loan and credit card?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm so scared and feel like its all such a mess :(

Thanks in advance
Hello and welcome glitterlea,
I have just started a DMP with payplan, but I have been on here for the last few months and gained so much info that I hope I can help you(if I get it wrong there are others on here that have way more experience),so here goes:

1) What if a creditor refuses to accept the deal made by payplan, what then?
As far as I know they will then sell your debt onto a debt collection agency (which sounds more scary that what it actualy is),your debt will be shown as a default on your credit rating,(big deal, my rating was great before I started and am now accepting the fact that it will be rubbish for 6 years)but they will be more likely to accept the payment and hopefully at a later date accept a low full & final settlement figure
2) I think I read somewhere that being on a DMP can affect your mortgage, is this true (we are currently on a 3 year fixed rate)
Yes and no I am led to believe, if you try and get another mortgage it will show that you have defaults on your credit rating which may mean paying a higher % rate, or you go onto the lenders variable rate until your in the position to get a better deal(my mortgage rate is up in August so cant wait to see what happens then-will keep you all posted on that)
3) What would happen if I got made redundant, would payplan offer insurance to cover this?
Payplan have a cover for this, you pay a % of your DMP payments to them and this will cover redundancies and they have also one for sickness cover
4) I have some small amounts that I owe, like £53 to my catalogue and £200 to new look - should I include these on my DMP or just the big ones which are my loan and credit card?
I would put all none priority debts on your DMP as otherwise it looks like you will be giving some creditors preferential treatment than the others which may open up a can of worms

Of course worse case is that you get issued a CCJ and may have to go to court, but from what I have read on here it dosent happen often-and even if you do go to court the judge will see that you are trying to pay your debts and may go in your favour, again there are a few people on here that know more than me re this so I am sure they will be along soon

Please, please dont worry, starting a DMP was the best thing I have ever done, wish I had done it a long time ago,it is a bit crap for the first few weeks/months but it will get better-I promise
Good luck

I've checked and I've checked and I definitely posted. I can see it here. But I've not received a hello, a reply, a welcome, a number, or anything. Is it because I'm not going via CCCS? Or am I, indeed, invisible?

Had it just been, say, the number I'd not received, I may have tried PMing. But as I've been totally missed ...

No point me replying to anyone else really if (a) no-one can see me, and (b) no-one knows who I am.
