Once I receive my welcome pack from CCCS, I send my token payments of £1 (postal orders) to each of my creditors, along with the letter in the welcome pack, ....... can I also include my request for copy of CCA to save money on recorded delivery charges?
I guess you could, but you would have to pay another £1 to obtain the CCA.....0 -
Hi,
I'm new here and just after some advice...
Basically, my story is that I have some outstanding debts to various creditors. I always pay my bills on time and have never missed a payment BUT I'm only paying the basic amount each month and so my cretit amount is never really going down. Plus, by the time I've paid all my bills I have no cash left and so am having to put basic's like petrol on my credit card... its a vicious circle!
After having my head buried in the sand for a long time, I have finally admitted that I need help and a DMP may be the option for me. I have contacted payplan and they are phoning me back on Monday for my telephone interview.
I feel quite scared by the whole prospect to be honest. I think the main worry being that I'm going to be in trouble with my creditors for the first time ever and the talk of court judgements and things terrifies me.
I just have a few questions if anyone could help me?
1) What if a creditor refuses to accept the deal made by payplan, what then?
2) I think I read somewhere that being on a DMP can affect your mortgage, is this true (we are currently on a 3 year fixed rate)
3) What would happen if I got made redundant, would payplan offer insurance to cover this?
4) I have some small amounts that I owe, like £53 to my catalogue and £200 to new look - should I include these on my DMP or just the big ones which are my loan and credit card?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm so scared and feel like its all such a mess
Thanks in advanceLB Moment - 15/06/2009

Starting DMP with Payplan - 01/08/090 -
Good Morning everyone, I hope you are all fine today and looking forward to the weekend :j
I just need a bit of advice regarding one of my creditors, I have sent a token payment to one of my creditors with a letter explaining my current financial difficulties and that CCCS will be in touch shortly to make an arrangement to pay, I have also given them my CCCS reference number and asked to be contacted by letter only, I have spoken to some of my creditors but I do not want talk directly with this company as I have found them to be very nasty and to be honest I never seem to get anywhere with them , I would rather have everything in writing with this particular company.
Anyway I am receiving around 6 telephone calls per day still and I have received a letter asking me to call and pay my arrears, now should I reply to the letter that I received yesterday explaining everything again directly to the person who signed the letter, or just ignore the letter, as I only sent them a token payment on Monday.

Please dont worry best advice is read, read and read you will soon feel more confident. xxxxxx

I've checked and I've checked and I definitely posted. I can see it here. But I've not received a hello, a reply, a welcome, a number, or anything. Is it because I'm not going via CCCS? Or am I, indeed, invisible?
Had it just been, say, the number I'd not received, I may have tried PMing. But as I've been totally missed ...

Hi glitterlea
I'm new to this too so please forgive me if this advice is wrong, I'm sure one of the people in the know will put me right if it is please???
But from what I have read, I think payplan just keep sending payments and finally they usually except, there are also various letters you can send but I'm not 100% where to find these or what they are.
I'm really worried about my mortgage too, but thanks to the lovely people here I've had my mind put at rest and I think you just go onto your providers variable rate after your fixed rate finishes.
I'm not sure about being made redundant but if you already have insurance for this there is provision within the DMP to include it. Or not sure if payplan will let you reduce your payments according to your income at the time.
People may disagree but I personally would add the small amounts to the DMP, you may get a good F & F settlement from them and not sure if you need to have a minimum amount of creditors to do a DMP, you can put your details into CCCS website online to find out?
Hope I've helped a little, but really sorry if I've advised you wrongly.

Morning,
I had the same as you, I will be honest I ignored the calls cos I am a wimp, it took most of them a couple of weeks to cash the token payments at which point my calls seem to be less frequent now. I would imagine even if you do call and explain the calls would continue anyway! if you go on national debt helpline they have a list of template letter you can send to creditors, I am sure one of the letters states to stop ringing you as it is harrassment and to contact you via letter only. So the moral of the story is " ignore the calls " and once your DMP is up and running it should start to be less frequent xLBM MAY 2009 :T
