    Hi all,

Hope you're all well and things are ticking along nicely.

I'm sorry to come here just to ask stupid questions to which I really should know the answer to, and also that I've been AWOL recently. I can't come on as much at work anymore (which in a way is good coz it means I'm busy) so don't seem to get time at all other than that.

Anyway, my best friend is now just about to start a DMP with PP and needs to send letters to her creditors. I can't find mine (if I indeed sent them, I'm sure I must have done. It's weird how it's only just over a year ago and yet I can't remember all of how I went about setting everything up. I think I may have been functioning in a constant daze!)

so could you please point me in the right direction for the templates on here?

I'm not sure where to look and I know they are on these threads somewhere but not sure how to find them without going through every page! Thanks

Also the template for only dealing only in writing, as she's already getting harrased.

    And one last thing,

her creditors are Barclaycard, Virgin, Halifax, Egg and Tesco (and possibly GE money but this is for her boiler so we think it's finance and should be in the 'need to pay' pile.)

Is Lloyds ok for her to open a bank with, with these? Or should she go for the Co op?

Apologies again for coming on just to ask question, and not answer any but I promise to try harder to make time to pop on in future to see how you're all doing!

Wow, so many posts since we were last here.
Hope everyone os doing well, and Hello to all the new Debt free wannabe's :)

Well, Tuesday saw us celebrating not only Pancake day, but also 14 months into our 5 Year DMP.
We had our review and were able to increase our repayments from £642 to £656 a month, and put the fact that we are not able to make a bigger gesture down to the fact the cost of living, VAT etc has gone up along with fuel, plus Hubby had to take a 5% drop in salary last year :(

Anyway, Things for us are going good, of our 8 creditors, 4 have accepted the new repayments, but all continue to recieve the agreed moneys each month.
Egg Cedit Cards decided to sell our Debt to Cabot who, aside from having a small tantrum about repayment dates have gone quiet and are accepting our repayments.

our iphone contracts were up last month, and we were dreading signing new agreements just incase we failed the credit check, however we sailed though and have not "sold" our old Phones to Mazuma for £162 each .. a nice little bonus :)

Car insurance too was up for renewal, and we managed to save a whopping £240 by going with "More Than" and removing European Cover on both our Policys.
Car tax rebanding has meany we are also saving £50 on one of the car tax renewals too.

A new job may also soon be on the cards .. if it happens, we hope to beable to increase our household income a little too .. fingers crossed.

Well done for increasing your payments :) - as that well known supermarket says 'Every little helps!'
Did you find it easy to swap car insurance? Saw your comments re: credit checks and phones.
I think I've been a loyal non-claiming customer for too long with my curent car/house insurer but I am bit frightened to change as I can only afford to pay by monthly direct debit. Don't want to have a credit check done if this should upset my current or any future insurance company.
Please tell us of your experiences :A Thanks.

    hey everyone,
havnt posted in a while so heres a wee update
our first payment went out to payplan on 3rd feb,it is filtering through to our creditors now:j
i just checked justabank and so far 2 have accepted our payplan and 2 have rejected it(mbna and hbos pref account)

if they have rejected it does this mean they will go for a ccj? or what do you think they will do next,
getting a wee bit worried now:(

    thanks everyone
    max

Don't get yourself in a tizzy too soon! :D
All creditors try to put the frighteners on you at first. Just keep on paying your agreed amount to Payplan and wait to see what develops.
Even if in time they should go down the CCJ route, you will probably find your payments are ruled to be fair. And as others have said a CCJ is no worse really than a 'default' on your credit record.

  • Hi everyone, I don't have much to report but thought I would say hi to everyone as it's been a couple of days since I've posted on this thread.

CCCS phoned us today and said that they have received all our paperwork but they need proof of our tax credits (why not tell us that in the first place?!) so I have sent that to them this afternoon. Hopefully that's it for now, she seemed to think that we were still on track to start in March...fingers crossed!

We have made the token £1 payments (or set them up anyway to go out on the date the monthly payment is due for each creditor) and on Sat will go to the post office to send all the letters out recorded delivery telling them what is going on. Then I guess we wait for the phone calls etc.

I've started a file with everything in so that if anyone does take us to court we will have everything filed away neatly and be able to prove that we have always done our best and not missed a payment.

Car insurance was easy ... Just let the old Policy expire and then shopped around. I think even if you have defaults, they will still accept you (they only care of you are a "claimer").

We were really worried about teh credit check ... had cover story if we were refused .. how embarrising is that !!.
When the Person in the phone shop was preparing the contract we commented that "Given our credit history in the last 12 months .. if it was declined .. we would know why ..."

The shop assistant told us if you have a contract and have not defaulted on a previous contract, they usually wont worry. Plus we have 18 months of previous bills to use as proof we didnt default our mobile accounts.

Were of the oppinion if we apply for credit and it gets refused then we'll just "deal" with it ..
Were going to down size one of the cars as soon as we have enough money set aside for a deposit against a new vehicle.. This downsizing will release almost £150 a month to go towards the debt, however it does breach the DMP rules of no futher credit, Car finance is seen so I have been told as a Priority debt .. ie without a car, cannot work, and cannot pay off debts .. so can be overlooked... again, what court would rule against yoru actions as your showing you are trying to pay more money off your debt

  • Hi all,
Hope the DMP's are all going well, I had a shock from Halifax today. My 6 months plan with them has ended and now they are adding interest and charges like its going out of fashion!!!! Debt is going up instead of down :(
On the plus side at least my MBNA credit card should be paid off by the end of the year so that will be 1 gone!! :)
Any advice on what to do about Halifax would be much appreciated!!! (I have to resist the urge to put my foot through the TV screen everytime I see the cringeworthy "High Five" advert) ;)
There is a light at the end of the tunnel.....I just need to find the switch.
  • Hi

Send your budget again and write a letter explaining (try very simple words as it is the Halifax!) that they are not helping but hindering your attempts to get debt free. Sometimes I think they just want to chance their arms to see if you will commence paying interest again without complaining, so complain, loudly. Good luck

Can I ask a stupid question?
I have cancelled all my non priority dd's this month on the advice of cccs and am in the process of getting everything swapped to a new account. My DMP is due to start on 1st April and dd's mostly go out on first of the month so really 2 months going to be missed (march and april), so i believe i need to send goodwill payment in the meantime. But i don't know how? I don't have a cheque book, and can't phone and make a card payment obviously so don't realy know what i'm supposed to do?

Also am concerned that although i've cancelled loan payment to natwest that they can reinstate it and if they take their money this month then priority dd's (gas, electric, water, tv, all go out on the same day) will not get paid?

Worrying a bit about this so any help would be appreciated. Maybe i need to ask cccs?
    TIA

EDIT: Yay look at me with my shiny new sig!!

  • Hi Hazel and welcome

You can pay your token payments by online banking if you have it (I did this) or possibly send postal orders. Is the bank you are going to be using different from Natwest (ie not in the same group?), they cannot reinstate a Direct Debit if you have cancelled it, you should have a copy of the DD guarantee, read it cos it really protects you in this instance. I think I've got most of this Ok but you may better to chack with CCCS about the timing and amount of token payments you need to make to show willing to your creditors. Good luck with it all, it is a bit up and down but you will feel better once its all up and running, really.
