  • Aargh I was just about to write to the CEO in the hope that I could get them to accept our DMP, we owe them just over 13000, paying 130.00 on the DMP and they are charging 260 in interest, so much for caring sharing Lloyds. How can they continue to get away with this when the majority of banks play ball and get their money back?

I'm really sorry that didn't work. That's how i got the interest frozen on my loan. They caused me stress and misery for years. I really hope you find a solution. Keep writing, or try a formal complaint procedure, and stress that you're trying to clear your debt, and that by doing this, they are putting your dmp with your other creditors at risk. And they would not be happy about this.
Or if worse comes to worse, do whatever you can to get that one passed onto the dca, thereby stopping interest.
    It's hard, I know.

Thanks, will keep at them I'm not giving up easily, especially when loan and o/d are playing ball.

I would say still do so, you never know your letter may work.

I know have banked with these previously for over 20 years, yes, it's my fault for taking out the money and spending it, not being responsible, but I'm not shying away from my debt and want to pay if back, but can't do so when these institutions are determined to squeeze every last dime out of us. Totally, totally feed-up and I know I keep saying it, but will never touch another credit card/loan for the duration of my life once DF:mad:

    Hi Guys,

Fairly new to posting on here, but just wanted to say I've been on my DMP just over a year now and it has probably saved me from no end of stress and worry.

To those thinking about going on one, do it now. I was worried about the effect on my credit file etc but for the first time in my life it has shown me how to budget and what I really spent my money on, which was usually rubbish.

I ran up my debts as a student nurse, when credit card companies where even in the corridors at uni asking us to sign up. Ended up with 8 credit cards and 3 store cards with no salary to pay them.

All that is behind me now and CCCS have helped me set up a realistic payment which I can afford and still live a reasonable life.

I also recently added a debt that had caught up with me that wasn't on the original plan with no problems at all.

One thing I would say is make sure you do the annual debt/budget review in time as I missed mine and almost messed the plan up.

Another thing is, ignore the threatening letters from creditors etc as CCCS keep making payments regardless and they usually eventually accept it.

Another massive benefit is that you can increase your payments if things change a little and there is even a tool on the CCCS website to calculate how much quicker the date of clearing the debt is based on higher payments, although this is an aspiration for me at the moment, but hopefully as time goes on my salary will improve and I can increase the payments.

I suppose I just want to say there is hope out there for people and this website is a godsend for many facing some of the most stressful times of their lives. Keep up the good work everyone.

    XXX Adam :D
  • thanks Adam,
its great to have a positive story and see real results. I think the problem for lots of us is that we are just starting and are kean to get it up and running and sorted and the banks are the ones who are dragging their feet and coming up with 110 daft reasons not to accept. Its almost as if they want to just get another couple of months interest for badness. It is very frustrating but great to know that there is light at the end of this very very long tunnel.

I have 3 cats too and I have all three insured for £10 per month with Healthy Pets.

I include their food in our grocery shopping, they get 2 pouches in the morning and 2 pouches at night between the three, so we only need 4 pouches a day. Plus they have dried food down all the time, so if they are hungry they can stock up on that which is much cheaper.

Flea and worm treatments I also get from the supermarket as much cheaper than vets and I include in the shopping budget. So that just leaves boosters which spread over a year should fit into a pet allowance.

    HTH! :)

    Hi
We were with healthy pets, but the premium went up, due to our cats almost reaching 7, and it was costing us around £15 per cat! So swapped to Tesco. We pretty much do all of that too. They have a sachet each in the evening, then in the morning they get a bowl of iams biscuits each. No other dry food.
I just can't believe how expensive the food is getting though. And you know how fussy they can be. One day like a certain flavour, next day don't! haha

I've been on DMP for 2 and bit years now, started Sept '07 (apologies for saying '09 in previous post. Agree the majority of creditors are good, but Lloyds are not:mad::mad::mad::mad:. I have paid/am paying each creditor 7 have accepted and have accepted since about 3/4 months into DMP hear nothing from them apart from the usual statements, can see interest frozen etc, but Lloyds credit card from day one have not played ball. I had just over £4k on the credit card, with 'late payments' always state that they didn't receive payment on time, plus interest this is now over £6K, where's the fairness in that and to top it all adding insult by saying keep paying, can't stop charges and interest, but if you keep paying we'll not take further action.......it makes my blood boil, how long have I got to keep on paying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's my beef! and apologise for the rant, but it had to be said.

Really sorry mummum2. I understand how you feel. It's just so frustrating. If you really feel like this is going to go on and on, you could take more drastic action. It depends on how bad it is, and if you think you can't cope or keep up with the debt.
Otherwise, try there formal complaint procedure, then after 8 weeks, you can go to the FOS.
