Dear all,
Wanted to post reply from Lloyds after I sent letter to CEO asking them to stop CC interest. I have 3 debts with lloyds, loan, credit card and o/d. Loan and o/d fine, interest frozen also bonus with loan go back all ppi therefore reducing loan from over £11K to just over £5K. For some reason from day one (DMP since Sept '09, all my other other creditors have stopped interest, MBNA, Cahoot, Abbey, N/R and Egg, God willing long may this continue, would be fab if till DF) Lloyds credit card have been total bas%%s:mad:
So reply from Collection Post Team in Hove, East Sussex
Dear Ms.........
Account N.........
Thank you for your letter of 28/01/10
We have reviewed your accounts and are not able to freeze the interest or charges at this time.
We will not take any further recovery action as long as your payments continue as previously agreed.
Yours sincerely,

Manager, Collections Centre.
I'm totally lost for words, I have over £6K outstanding on this credit card, I pay £64.73 each month and interest is added each month of almost £80 each time, how these people say that if you're in difficulty then call them is a total lie and I wish Lloyds will crush and burn:mad:
MM2
I had exactly the same letter!!!!! Soooo annoying isnt it - Im right at the start of my DMP and so far Virgin and MBNA have accepted Lloyds is the only one that hasnt so far :mad: What do we do now?? What would they rather - we go bankrupt - then they will get B**ger all !!!0 -

I am new to this DMP lark... did a CCCS review a few months ago and our income didn't even cover the essentials
Since then I have managed to do some extra work, pay off a small credit card and make some additional savings and the up to date advice is to go with a DMP. Had a long chat with CCCS today so I fully understand it and in honesty it sounded too good to be true. Now reading on here I realise it isn't all going to be smooth sailing, but I think it will be worth it.
The thought of having a basic bank account with no overdraft to stress about sounds like absolute bliss.
Our creditors are
HSBC: personal loan (c£10k) and overdraft (£2k)
MBNA C/Card: £8400
Alliance & Leicester: Overdraft £500
Can anyone let me know what I can expect from them once they are aware that we are arranging a DMP through CCCS?
Also, how long does it normally take to set up (am waiting for the "welcome pack" to arrive and will open a basic account this weekend)?
Soooo glad I found this forum and can't wait to see the numbers start getting smaller!

Ooh -and can I have a DMP support group number please???
Hi Melanie,
Glad to hear you have taken the first steps to become debt free like myself. Had to post, as your situation is very similar to mine except I am 1 year ahead so can hopefully give you some helpful advice about what is to come.
Started my DMP with CCCS in Feb 09 owing money to
MBNA Credit Card £1060
Sky Credit £4869
HSBC O/D £1000
HSBC Mastercard £1597
HSBC Loan £5649
Total Debt £14,175.00
After working out my personal budget CCCS came up with a figure of £205 per month which was a lot more manageable than the £400+ I was struggling to pay out each month just on debts.
Within 1 month of my DMP starting both MBNA and Skycard (now known as Barclaycard) wrote to me saying that they were accepting my reduced payments and freezing the interest for 1 year and will then review the situation.
Unfortunately HSBC were not quite so understanding, probably not surprising as it was them that I owed the most money to. I had banked with HSBC for 13 years, given them over £2000 in bank charges, never missed a loan or credit card payment yet when I went to them before Christmas 2008 telling them what a mess I was in and could they increase my loan so I could consolidate all my other debts they basically just sent me away saying they couldn't help me. That in turn was what prompted me to seek out a DMP.
HSBC have harrassed me both on the phone and more recently via the post determined not to accept the reduced payments, and won't acknowledge the DMP at all. They have added arrears and late payments charges to the loan, pressurised me in to taking a managed loan (CCCS advised me against this), are adding interest to the overdraft every month and the credit card.
I knew from the start it wasn't going to be easy, but to be honest HSBC have made it a lot harder than it needed to be.
If you do start getting the phone calls, and mine were 4 or 5 times a day from different numbers as early as 8am and as late as 8.40pm go into your local branch and ask them to take your landline number off their computer system. They were happy just to have my mobile number which I then kept on silent!
7 days ago I received a Final Notice from them, so hopefully 1 year on I may finally get passed over to a collection agency which I think will be the best outcome now, as the interest and charges might stop.
I hope I have been of help and I really hope you have a better experience with them, please keep me informed.
One year on and getting the DMP has been one of the best things I have ever done. I was a terrible shopaholic spending over £500 a month on rubbish basically and I now have a budget that I stick to of about £40 a month! I have a bank account with no overdraft and now actually get interest paid to me for being in credit!
I know it is scary at first but it does get easier, and even though I am not due to be debt free until 2015 at least we are all doing something about it and there is an end in sight:jDMP Mutual Support Thread Member 375

A VICTORY I HAVE TO SHARE
Hi All
I just had to share my excellent DMP news with you all. I have been on my debt management plan since July 2009 and one of the problem creditors was HFC Bank who passed my debt over to Restons. They decided to issue a CCJ and wanted to put a charging order on the property so I had to go to court on Friday. The judge was brilliant and made the Restons appointed solicitor look a right fool. She refused to put the charging order on the house, reduced the payment I am making through my DMP from £22 a month to £18.90 due to the fact that Restons had refused to give me all of the information in an accessible format for me (I am blind). She stated that they had broken the law by not providing me with infomation I could access and therefore their case was not worth the paper it was written on. The solicitor then tried to speak but she told him that if he wasnt going to say something sensible then to not say anything at all!!!! I dont think the solicitor quite knew what to say and she then without me saying anything reduced the paymet and said that she hoped they had learnt a lesson, that discrimination in 2010 in Britain is not acceptable!!!!
I was not even going to argue to charging order cause at the end of the day I owe the money bu she was brilliant and I feel this is a little victory in the grand DMP stress.#1200 - Sealed Pot challenge £1263/£300

Hiya, I can only think natwest are saying it is wrong so they can bounce back the payment and not accept it thus proving they wont accept the DMP. I would speak with CCCS as they are handling your debts and see if there is any other way they can force that payment through to Natwest. Usually if a creditor refuses to accept DMP CCCS just keep making the payments so if taken any further it can be proved you are making an effort with your debt ( which you are ) Not sure if your account has been passed to a DCA yet, have you had a formal default letter yet stating the 14 days ( from the date you receive the letter ) to pay in full the balance. If not then I doubt it will of been passed to a DCA yet. Also have you asked them for a CCA yet as this may delay further action. ( only new to this so more experienced people will come along )
Hello, I am sorry to jump onto your thread here, but may I ask a quick question. I am currently going through hell now i have faced up to my debts and have been reading on here or a few days. I am thinking of doing a DMP, but if I do, will my bank (my current account where my salary and all my bills are paid - Natwest) know? Many thanks,0 -

No thread to jump on, you're welcome here with the rest of us.
Generally if you start a DMP, you'll need a bank account with no overdraft, so the issue here is, if you do have an overdraft, it'll need to be cleared and removed, or, added on to the DMP, in which case you'll need a new 'basic' bank account with no overdraft. You'll also need this bank account if you have any loans or credit cards with Natwest.
As to whether or not they know, I have an account with the Co-Operative bank (A bank with whom I have no debts) and a standing order leaves the account each month to pay the DMP. Does the bank know? Probably? Do they care? Probably not.
So it depends on what your situation is. Feel free to ask further questions.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -

Interesting! My current account is with Lloyds (sorry all you people who are having such trouble with them) I still have an O/D facility of £200, unused of course, but didn't want to alert bank particularly to my DMP.
I was discussing something completely different at the branch yesterday when they chirped up with 'Oh there seems to be a block on your account even though you run it responsibly-I can't see why.'
Had to own up to DMP but as you say they did not seem especially bothered, as no monies owed to them.
Moral of the story? Keep your bank account clean and keep on paying your creditors-they'll get the message in the end.

Hi all,
Just started my DMP this month. 2 out of 3 have accepted which is good so 1 to go. My question is shall i get them to default my account and pass it on to a DCA?
RBS seem to have passed it on already to Triton which are i think are sort of in house and Virgin/MBNA are also in house.
Any answers greatly recieved. Hope you're all doing ok with your DMP's
Thank you xx0
