  • Hi everyone!! Wondered if any of you could give me some advice?? I started my DMP in December. Barclaycard, liverpool victoria and Santander have accepted, Lloyds said no but then wrote to ask for copy of SOA so i'm keeping my fingers crossed, barclay loan said no and have defaulted the account but say to keep paying my DMP offer!! My problem is with my Barclays current account. They said - and is stated in my cccs booklet that they would offer me a basic account without taking money from it to pay my overdraft which is part of my DMP,as long as the dmp is with the cccs, they lied!!! Last week they transferred £100, so god knows how i'm goin to make it to pay day now!!. The main pronlem with them is that they are just ignoring my letters and the cccs. The payments that have been made trough the cccs have not appeared in my account but they have also not been returned to the cccs, so where's the money gone?? Every letter I send just seems to get ignored, they just keep sending me letters saying they're gonna charge me £22 every 5 days, this debt is now getting huge! I don't know what to do next, they just don't seem to want to play ball - please help!!!!! Thankyou in anticipation.......
  • Hi Stella,
If i was you i would phone barclays and demand the money back, then whether they refunded it or not I would open a different bank account. Co-op cashminder is a good one, they normally accept people with financial difficulties, you get online banking, dd facilities, a visa debit card and uk callcentres so it's all good. Hope this helps.

I have my dmp starting in march 1st, so relieved that it is finally up and running, the last couple of months have been interesting to say the least. But I was wandering if anyone has had trouble with people trying to re set up direct debits after they have been cancelled. The reason I say this is that I moved my account from smile as I had an overdraft from them and then set up a new account with a&l. They then managed to set a direct debit in my new account without my prior approval, I cancelled and then they managed to set it up again. This is annoying me as they took 50 pounds without me relising before it was too late, meaning that my budget took a large hit this month. Would it be worth changing my account again? Can anyone recommend a basic account I can set up quickly without overdraft facility?

As recommended to stella in above post Alfie co-op cashminder is good, you can apply over the phone (number on their website, make sure it's the cashminder though). Process takes about 10 minutes they will tell u straight away if u are approved, debit card etc comes within about 1 week.

    Hi

I also started my dmp in 2005, and have been battling with lloyds for just as long to get the interest stopped, and in December 2009, finally got them to pass on the debt to their debt collectors and all interest stopped. You've got to keep ringing that collections dept all the time until you find the right person who will listen and transfer it. And write letters and a formal complaint following their complaints procedure. Try everything, otherwise you'll be paying this off for years to come.
Our balance as of 2005 with lloyds was £12000, 5 years later after paying £202 a month it is £11000. Kills me that i've paid all that money, and it's hardly touched the debt. But at least now what i pay will go off the balance. It's tough, but keep at it. :)

  • Hi I'm new to the forum so please bear with me!

I have a DMP with CCCS which I started last March so nearly a year into it. HSBC are the only creditor that have not accepted my DMP Payments and have been adding charges onto the loan so I am now in arrears etc.

Today I have recieved a FINAL DEMAND letter from HSBC asking me to pay them the £4000+ within 18 days.

My main question is what happens next as I obviously can't pay them this amount, has anyone else had any dealings with HSBC and DMP's as 1 year on they are still not playing ball.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated

    HI

Sorry to be a downer, but they can keep adding interest/charges for as long as they like. Rubbish i know, but 5 years into our dmp, some creditors are still charging interest etc. I would just get CCCS to send them another financial statement, and write to them yourself using the template letters on this site, asking them to reconsider their decision not to stop interest and accept your reduced payments, telling them that all your other creditors have stopped interest thereby helping you reduce the balance owed to them, and by not stopping, they are putting your dmp with the other creditors at risk.

    Hi,

It sounds as if they havent transferred your account to their basic cashcard account. I have 2x barclays loan, o/d and barclaycard and my basic account has not had any monies taken out (touch wood).
When I set up my DMP I did go into Barclays and open the basic account rather than letting them do it automatically as I am a bit of a control freak! I proably shouldnt have stayed with them but it just makes life a little easier.

I would definitly speak to the branch and explain the situation and get the basic account asap, if you want to stay with them. Regardsing the monies taken if it is for some priority debt I'm sure you can request it back, but maybe someone can explain this better!

Do you mean that you asked them to pass the account to the debt collectors? I have not had the nerve to do that - just keep telling them I can only pay what is in the DMP.

Smile are linked to Co-Op though, so you prob can't use them.

Why were A&L taking money from you Alphie? Or are Smile taking money from your old account? I'm a bit confused, sorry!
