Thanks for the welcome Crispycornflake. I think the creditors do settle down once the DMP kicks in, although some of them do contact me every six/twelve months. I just get CCCS to send my financial statement through again and they go away.

Some of the creditors defaulted my accounts straight away, whereas others only did so last year, so my credit file is going to look bad for some time to come :( Hopefully won't need to look for new credit anytime soon - hoping interest rates stay low so my mortgage stays ok on SVR as getting a new mortgage may be a problem.

The only creditor that doesn't seem to 'get it' is Lloyds - they randomly add interest to my account, sometimes more than the monthly payment, sometimes considerably less, and sometimes none at all. They periodically send letters saying they are taking me to court / defaulting the account, then when I send them a new financial statement they put me back on the plan. Would prefer to have them default the account so I can start counting down the next 6 years...

  • welcome Lozzam, you give me hope, and at this stage its worth more than gold. bummer about Lloyds as they appear to be just ignoring us and adding interest, why don't they get it?

  • Hi all,

About to start a dmp with cccs, was wondering what a reasonable payment that the creditors will accept the dmp and freeze interest, am going to start at about £600 on a debt of 63k.....any thoughts?
  • Hiya, we are in a dmp and have had our house up for sale for over 18 mths now but nothing, we really need to move for the space!!!!!!!!! We have been thinking about staying were we are but we would then have to remortgage to get an extension done!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone one tried to remortgage when in a dmp, we also have a CCJ too!!!!!!!!!

creditcrunc_h - my experience with CCCS is that they will base the repayments on the maximum you can effort after going through your expenditure, so you need to start from that angle rather than wondering what creditors will accept. I found they were reasonable were you stray from the 'guidelines' - eg I am sometimes expected to go out with clients after work and have to buy a round or two, so my entertainment costs are higher than they ought to be (my salary is such that I can't tell my employers I can't afford £20 a month without a lot of explanation!)

I am paying back around 1% per month to each creditor, so when I started it was around 0.5 to 0.75% - your suggestion sounds entirely reasonable.

  • thanks for these figures Lozz, its all the wee nitty gritty things that no one tells you. I have been fretting because we are slightly under the 1% and thought that they would reject because of this. You made my day, so far of course!!!!
