Hi Susie im not sure if this is of any help but just in case it is,

When this happened to me with the Halifax, i wrote to them saying that it was not possible to pay the amount and that i would continue to pay the monthly payments i could afford through the CCCS.

I also complained to the creditor about their adding interest etc onto the account when others did not.

I kept the letter i sent and also any letters in return.

The debt was later passed on and the interest and charges stopped.

Of course this only happened after a while and was not with HSBC but....

....The point i felt of writing was that it would leave a trail of me keeping in contact and showing willing to pay the debt whilst they are shown to be unreasonable.;)

Hi Any Chance Thanks for your advice, very helpful, will drop them a line on monday and see what happens. Just hoping they will pass it onto debt collectors and then interest and charges might stop!

Hi, Yellowpinky, I was wondering what you would do with that money! I agree with the other posters that it would be difficult to pay some of the creditors off without the others knowing. We had difficulties with our car insurance in Jan, with a few phone calls, but luckily we had a "rolling" credit agreement, so the (reduced because of No Claims) payments continue, and we aren't really taking out "new credit", thank goodness. I don't know where we would have found £300 in Jan to pay it as a "one off".

Honestly, if I were you I would have an emergency fund. This week a suspension spring went on our car, and the exhaust is loose, may need replaced!! Luckily OH has some overtime due at the end of Feb, otherwise I would be in "the Horrors". It probably depends how much your money is. If it really doesn't impact the DMP that much then it may be better to have a wee fund in case anything goes wrong. All the Best!

    ttf.

Also, Payplan won't find out that you have anything extra in your bank account if that puts your mind at rest!

    Hiya TF!
My car is 'dying' but essential for work, so as I have had to so many times before, it's back to Mum to bail me out.:o So agree with you - on a DMP if you have the opportunity to build up a 'safety net' do it!
But doesn't it just break your heart when we are striving and stressing about having to find extra money in the hundreds, that some MPs are fighting having to pay back claimed expenses? £99,000 for necessary overnight hotel stays that didn't take place???
Scuse me but is the same world we live in? Sorry to be political but tough as it for us, so many people in the world have bog all.
Rant over so going now, but greetings to all fellow DMP people.

First Right of Appropriation - knew I would remember at some point! There is some rules saying that they cant take money if is is set aside for a specific reason. Have a google and see what you find.
It does amaze me how everyone on here is treated so differently by the same creditors. As I said I have not had any issues with Barclays, as soon as my current account defaulted and my wages went into the new account everything has been quite. I do wish they hadnt taken the account from online banking but I just phone up collections every few months to check the balance, it is weird because my loan accounts stayed online, wonders will neven cease.

    Take Care

'First Right of Appropriation.' Hey,hey-just love that! You want to be on our team at the pub quiz Tueday night?
As you say creditors treat everyone so differently with no apparent rhyme or reason. Just got to take and deal with what comes your way.

  • Hi Everyone

Just a short message for any CCCS DMP experts ;)

I've been on my DMP since July 09 and so far so good, Citi Cards were the only creditor not to accept the plan, anyway they continued to accept my repayment from the CCCS until I managed to increase my monthly deposit to CCCS (Yes Increase :D) at the beginning of this month and they have now passed the debt onto Collect Direct Uk, I have informed CDU of my DMP and completed the Debt Transfer section of my account online with CCCS.

Now after researching CDU online I have come across quite a few posts that say this company isn't one of the best to deal with and they are quite incompetent , they have sent a letter to myself saying that Citi Cards have passed the debt to them, but is that enough for me to just start paying them rather than Citi, do Citi need to contact me about this before CDU can claim the debt or do I just take their word for it ?

    Thanks In Advance

  • Thanks everyone for your helpful replies! I think I was mostly fretting about PP finding out if I kept some of that money back - I did mention to them I would have some money coming when I first started with them, though not how much as I didn't (and still don't) know exactly how much it would be, but at least I can have some as a safety net. In an ideal world I'd like to do F & F's and I did read on another thread that CCCS didn't mind but I know they work differently to PP. Otherwise I'm just happy to give it to them to throw it at the debt and get my DFD down. I think I'm due a review any time so will discuss with them then.

TTF, I'm glad you got sorted with your car insurance - at least they gave a bit of flexibility. It's so difficult to find one-off payments, and be prepared for unexpected things, so I know I'll feel a bit safer with an emergency fund, I'm glad it's ok to have one!

    Take care, YPx

  • Then there was one from MBNA (who accepted my DMP earlier this week) telling me that amount I have to pay them to clear my arrears.

Iwillgetoutofdebt - Was the letter from MBNA a Statutory Notice of Arrears? If so this is just a standard notification when you have missed two or three monthly payments (I think) - I had one not long after my acceptance letter from them and it hasn't affected anything at all since.
    hi Guys got a question-
I've been on a DMP with Payplan for a year now- and have consistently made my monthly payments. They have just done an annual review- and today I got a letter from M&S saying they needed me to contact them about the debt or they will issue a CCJ/go to a collection agency etc.

Cheesedoffwithdebt - I haven't got any useful advice but just to say M & S are also one of my creditors and when they sent a letter of acceptance for my DMP it said my monthly payments set by Payplan were acceptable then something like "Final Payment Oct 2010" so I assumed it meant they would review the situation then. I expect I'll get a similar letter at some point!

Yeah well I called M&S after posting that- and got this woman who was too relaxed for words- said they had written as for the last 3 months payplan have sent slightly less than they originally offered- its like some conspiracy!! so anyway it was all ok after I spent a night fretting bout CCJ's- I think as long as you pay a regular amount they are much better with you- but it's still all over my head:-)
now debt free and determined to maintain good spending habits and build savings

    Hi!!
Well I've finally had a reply from Barclays, a letter requesting the cccs resend my details!!! I'm gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and think that they really didn't recieve the info first time!!! still no mention of the missing payments tho, I'll keep at em!!! Good news from Lloyds, they seem to have accepted the plan, had a statement today saying minimum payment is my dmp amount and have greatly reduced interest, not stopped it but its better that nothing hey!!!! :)
  • Hi all
have finally joined this thread. Have checked my dmp today and my debt is now £1500 less than it was 8 months ago... still a long way off but its coming down, and no, i am still carrying the weight of this by myself but are feeling a lot more positive.
