RBS are affiliated to Halifax, Lloyds TSB, Black Horse (check it out on the internet)

You're thinking of Bank of Scotland, Not ROYAL Bank of Scotland. Two totally different bank. Lloyds own Halifax, and Bank of Scotland, but NOT ROYAL bank of Scotland.

Sorry for caps. lol, but so confusing otherwise.

hi, could you post the template you sent to GE please? I know I've seen them on here, but can't remember how far back. Thanks

The letter I sent to GE Money basically calculated how much interest they were going to charge in the next 6 months (v. rough calc) and I pointed out that I would never pay them off. Expected a fight but got a reply within 5 days saying ok no more charges. Hmmm why couldn't they have done that sooner!!!

Template below- delete/ amend where appropriate.

    My Address

    Their Address

    Date

    Account No:

    Dear Sir/Madam

We have recently been in contact with the arrears management team to discuss the above referenced account with regards to the interest charges that are being applied to our loan account. We are sorry that you feel you’re unable to suspend interest charges on this account at the moment and we’re asking you to reconsider this decision.

The account has already been issued with a default notice in July 2009 therefore if you can’t suspend the interest charges can you please pass the debt onto a third party debt collection agency which would allow us to start reducing the outstanding balance.

We entered into a debt management plan with the Consumer Credit Counselling Service on the 25th March 2009 due to severe financial difficulties and have been making pro-rata payments to all our creditors since this date.

As you are aware, we have already paid considerable sums of interest to this account and the monthly instalment we are currently paying doesn't cover the interest that is being applied to the account and our overall balance is increasing.

Since the start of our plan despite paying £XXXX to this account our overall debt outstanding to your company has increased to £XXXX. This equates to an increase of £XXXX since February 2009. Every month we’re paying approx £XXX but our debt is increasing by £XXX therefore in our current circumstances we will never be in a position to clear the outstanding balance.

As per the phone conversation we believe our account status will not be reviewed again until 25th Feb 2010. By that time, based on the past 6 months our overall balance will be approx. £XXXX if not more. Also our financial circumstances in the immediate and long term future will not improve considerably to allow us to increase the payments in order that we will be in a position to reduce the outstanding balance.

We would therefore be grateful if you would reconsider your decision not to freeze the interest or pass our account on and we look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

    Yours faithfully

  • Hi Kudox,

Sorry to hear about your uncle and good luck for taking on your DMP yourself. I'm also thinking about doing it myself but not brave enough just yet. I may wait until Feb/Mar our 1 year anniversary before I take the plunge. So keep us posted with your success.

  • Hello

I'm a new member to the DMP - CCCS club !.

Sent all letters to creditors, telling them about my DMP, that all payments due 1st or 15th dec will be made on 28th Dec, so asking for their support to freeze the due payments or change the due date to 28th of every month.... as I couldn't really afford to pay as I will be paying DMP on 28th Nov instead.

Nothing heard anything yet, just new statements BUT the Abbey have sent me a statement and isn't showing charges ref to my O/D where is did last month, so I guess they have frozen charges ? well hope so, fingers crossed ! 1 success out of many to come.

Also sent CCCS all income and creditors statements last week ( thursday ) how long will it be before I get anything back from them... the welcome pack ?

Alot have good news of support from creditors which is good to hear so fingers cross I have the same too.....

As you all mention, very quiet, just want everything to start movng, I guess my phone will be ringing out after the end of the month when no payments have been received..... BUT wishful thinking, they have my letter and have changed due dates... I CAN DREAM !... but have given them plenty of notice..... better than not knowing at all..........

I have a big loan with Barclays and all my payment twards bills go into it with my husbands, so I hope they don't take any money out of it as I have cancelled the DDR...

Seeing Barclays tomorrow, as I need to transfer debit cards to cash cards...... hope I can keep mine (no O.D - clean) as I don't know how I will cope not having the facility to pay over phone or on PC..... do yuou think I could, will find out tomorrow !.

Anyway, be good if anyone could answer my few queries... and will you all the best of luck in clearing your debts.... ME - about 4 years...

    Thanks all.

Hi I'm going to carry on paying my creditors myself exactly as CCCS would.
Not sure what you mean by "are they ok with that and you don't have to pay them anything", who do you mean by they?
Don't think "honesty" comes into it, it's surely up to me entirely what (or if) I pay my creditors, and the point is I'm now going to take responsibility for my own finances again.
One of my creditors are charging me near enough £250 a month in interest etc, making a complete mockery of my £40 payment. They don't have an enforceable CCA so I'm going to deal with that in my own way, which I suspect CCCS wouldn't look kindly on.
I simply refuse to chuck good money after bad, "honest" or not.
