Thanks you for the welcome everyone as shown me. This forum is going to be my lifeline. Good news had another acceptance letter from one of my loans saying the will accept the proposed payment. So that's three accepting and two not. What i cant understand is the bigger debt that i owe the company's are accepting and the ones i owe under 100 pound too are not. What is that all about?

Anyway. good luck to everyone who has just started their DMP xxx

There is no rhyme, reason or logic to it all! As so many have found before you, it depends if there is an R in the month, what side of the bed they got out of and if the sun is shining
Probably for the smaller debts they are just trying to put the frighteners on you because you might dig out out the cash from somewhere (yeah right-empty the loose change from the purse now;))
And hello to all the new DMP people!

    Hi Everyone,
Yep TP is right I really am female, you've got me worried now Tooth Fairy wondering why I come across as male;)
Maybe I should change my name to something girly:rotfl:
Hey Toffee Penny missed you again, good to read your posts though.

Have been catching up on the last weeks posts, it was my birthday, then OH been poorly for the last week, then my uncle died so been looking after my mum, so life got in the way of coming on here I guess you could say.

Glad to here everyones doing ok and having a chat about stuff other the debts.

I finally took the plunge today and told cccs I'm taking over the DMP myself, wish me luck everyone. hope I don't regret it, they said I can go back any time in the next 6 months though.

    Hi Kudox
Don't worry - sex change on DMP is not compulsary;) It all came about because I'd asked a serious question about my mortgage and it degenerated into a mythical party at my place. There was a lot of discussion re:the male/female balance on this thread. (And who knows from our user names??)
So sorry to hear about your uncle's death and life not going too smoothly.
Think you're brave to take over your DMP but I know you have been struggling with ridulous charges. Please keep posting, am very interested to know how your creditors react and good wishes with it!

I know its mind boggling to try and figure out where they are coming from but i feel so much better knowing the ball is rolling now and next month with the pay going into a new account its a new start. Here's to the post in the morning and what it brings us
A bargin is only a bargin if its needed not wanted :money:
  • Looked at my egg statement this month, they haven't written accepting the dmp, although they have for a loan with them. I'm disappointed to see that they are still charging 21% interest, and late charges, so my debt is only reducing by £4 per month - so much for 4 years with behaviour like that. I have a couple of weeks of to recuperate from an operation, so will be sorting out my paperwork and writing a few chasers next week.
On the plus side, I realised at the weekend that I hadn't used any credit at all for 4 months and I actually have money in the bank after 10th of the month, so that's progress!

  • Hi Mrs Ryan

I feel the same our debts at first didn't seem to come down very much. We've paid CCCS just over 9k but our debts have only reduced by 6k. I think the 3k differance is due to interest being charged at the beginning with GE Money only stopping this month and the original balance figures being wrong. Hopefully now that I have upto date balances and all interest stopped then the figure will reduce quite nicely.

Have all your creditors stopped applying interest, if not write to them. I had contacted CCCS wrt to GE Money and they said they're was nothing they could do so I thought sod it and fired them a letter expecting a fight but they wrote back straight away and stopped interest immediately. Should have done it sooner

If you need a template letter give me a shout (or anyone else for that matter) and I'll post a copy of the one I sent to GE Money.

    Becks

hi, could you post the template you sent to GE please? I know I've seen them on here, but can't remember how far back. Thanks

I was in the same position as you in August. I took my phone number of my egg on line account so they couldnt contact me. I was so worried about phone calls from my creditors at work as i work in a small office. Everything has been fine and have not had one phone call. All have accepted my dmp and stopped interest. cccs have been brillant and as long as you are paying an agreed plan creditors will be happy. It will get better I should have done this years ago.
  • Morning all thanks for the kind welcome!

I must say 5 yrs doesnt seem too bad considering how long it would have taken without going down the dmp route, all i know is we are never going to allow ourselves to get here again!
Weslhbird and bexychan *waves* hello! its nice to have some people here that are just starting out too, hopefully we'll be able to share our stories and all the bad (and perhaps the good???) times over the next few months!!

I just paid my creditors by bank transfer from my old ac this morning - paying them £1 each seemed so wrong somehow after paying some of them £100+ !!

Has anyone had any hassle from creditors at work? all our phonecalls go through a switchboard in a v busy (and nosy) office and im a little concerned as to how that will affect my job?

    Have a good day everyone

When they get put through at work and they ask to speak to Mrs Bloggs, say yes thats me and when they tell you who they are and want to "take you through security" plainly tell them you cannot take personal calls at work, dont confirm anything and if they wish to communicate with you to do it in writing and kindly remove your work details. If you dont confirm any security questions and they carry on about your debt or whatever on the phone get them riled by telling them actually you are not Mrs Bloggs and they have just breached data protection by releasing sensitive information to another person without security checks and you will be advising Mrs Blogs to make a formal complaint and ask them what their name is..... they wont give you their name, but they will quickly remove work details... :rotfl::rotfl:you gotta have a joke sometimes

PS feeling rather devilish today, sorry!

  • Out of interest how long did Egg take to stop charging interest? I took my phone numbers off as well, as every time I spoke to them they agreed they had been contacted by CCCS, but a few days later the calls started again.

    Thanks Twithead and Tooth Fairy,
Don't know about being brave taking on the Dmp myself, I could end up running for the hills in a couple of months time:eek:
The time is right though and I can't carry on struggling with the outrageous charges certain creditors are loading on each month, time to be proactive methinks.

I'll keep you informed how it goes.

Morning everyone, Hope everyone is ok. Big hello to everyone that is new and posted on here recently.

Well I am really tired and stressed out at the moment. Have just about managed to sort all my direct debits out after switching bank accounts but I still cant get on my new account online banking system which is stressing me out as I want to keep tabs on my account. I am supposed to be starting my DMP with the CCCS on the 1st Dec but I had a letter from them yesterday wanting more information about OH's wages. He has been working away so earning more but that looks set to finish next week so last night I had to sort his wage slips out and I have got to send them off to CCCS for them to re-calculate things! So Northstar, again, we are in the same situation. Hopefully if everything else is sorted you will be ok for Dec. The lady at CCCS said it should still go ahead on the 1st but who knows. So I am off to the post office today to send another special delivery letter. This is costing me a small fortune. 4 of my creditors still havent received the recorded delivery letter with the DMP notification letter which I posted on the 3rd Nov! I am going to send copies off today but the PO said I have to wait 15 working days after posting to class the letter as lost.

And today is the day if I find out if I loose my job and am being made redundant. Bosses should be at their meeting by now. _pale_

I have aged by 10 years in the last couple of months let me tell you. I have got right bags under my eyes and I am putting on weight again after I lost it all!!! The stress is making me eat.:o Last night I raided the freezer, found a blackberry and apple crumble and a can of custard in the cupboard and I ate it all!!
    :EasterBun

Oh Bailey, you too :(.....I'm with you there, costing me a small fortune in Special Delivery too :(, had another big row with OH cos he was moaning about that and why dont I just stick a first class stamp on it. He just doesnt get it does he. The whole time sensitive issue , drives me mad.

I really wanted the council to receive it tomorrow guaranteed, this was the only way, then it's the 5 day wait on top of that...it all takes time.
We tried so hard last week Bailey didnt we and the week before to get it all sorted and sent. Hopefully we will still be on track for the 1st Dec.

Also I am starting to get letters from creditors who OBVIOUSLY haven't read my Notification of DMP letters and telling me I haven't contacted them blah blah, I have proof they got the letter, they just want me to phone them I know, not getting drawn into that one!

Aged? Me too? Eat when stressed? Yep, sadly, wish it was the other way round :(, I raided the biscuit tin while I was hanging on the phone for 20 minutes yesterday......hopefully we can lose the weight once things get sorted and we can relax a bit eh.

Warm welcome to all the newcomers and other members who have popped back to send messages. What a journey we are on!
Hang in there everyone.......why couldnt it have been once of us who won that 90 million!!
