Ok, so I now have 10 out of 13 creditors who have received my notification of DMP letter and token payments.
    Wooohoooooo

3 to go..... typical that 2 of them are creditors who are on the phone day and night! Why couldnt their ones have got there safely!!!

But, be careful you guys, I have been checking the track an trace thing daily and where it said day after day it was 'still progressing through the system', I was crushed because just worrying really that it was lost somewhere.

Anyway, when I checked my account today, lo and behold, one of the cheques for £1 had been cashed, although the track n trace said it was still on its way. I wonder if the Royal Mail website is updated daily now or not? Just something to think about, maybe we should be checking our accounts first before we panic with Royal Mail? What do you think? It would have saved me a high pulse rate if I did it the other way round this week! :D

Also just changed my direct debit details for another thing today. Almost there, council tax next!!

Thats interesting to know Northstar, I am checking the track and trace site every 10 minutes at the moment! I used my mums cheque book so I will ask her if any have been cashed. I am nearly there with all my dd's aswell, problem I have is that when I got married I didnt change my name with everyone so I am having to send my marriage cert off now aswell.

  • Oh god what a pain about your name thing. We are nearly there though so hang on in there. Hopefully your mum will have some news for you.
I have been tracking twice a day like a loony, would have done many more times if I was home this week :D
I will still check it of course but at the same time log into my 'old account' too .......while I still can LOL

I cant wait to get rid of all these old accounts now, too painful.........and I remember Martin's mantra ........the banks aren't there to help you...or words to that effect ;)

    Debt-free and Proud!
Hi everyone, I haven't been here in so long I'm totally out of the loop with you all. I had a quiet summer as I did a CCA request on my three creditors and none of them could come up with the goods. So my DMP payments stopped for a while, but now I've had a F&F offer from one of them - the outstanding balance is over £2k and they will accept £300 as a full and final settlement - yippee! As I haven't been paying my DMP I can do this quite easily and that closes things off with them very nicely. It's all starting to disappear quite quickly now...HOORAY!! Hang in there everyone - there is light at the end of the DMP tunnel. :)

    Hi Lovella,

Well done!Very encouraging news. Some of us are pretty new here so we have a loooooooong way to go and still at the stressful early days of setting up a DMP.
Pls can I ask, I have seen the abbreviation CCA around and about, what does it stand for? Still getting used to the abbreviations LOL
    Many thanks

    hey all

geofmr1 - really gives me hope!! your advice needed.... (oh great one!!)

i have requested my cca off lloyds (CCA= Consumer Credit Agreement) and y/day recd a letter which enclosed a copy of ''my opriginal agreement'' - err can't be as it was addressed at my address now & i took the cc out in 1990 at a completley different address!!!

then lloyds got snotty in the letter saying THEY WILL NOT CORRESPOND ANY FURTHER IN THIS MATTER & basically they have complied with the 1974 act and they don't have to send a copy of the original SIGNED agreement.

    What do i do now!??

I want to carry on paying them via the DMP - i just don't want them to take me to court / charging orders etc.

shall i send the standard letter back which is on here somewhere or go for a more personal tact??

anyhoo - hope all having lovely afternoons - am planning on doing all my xams shopping this w/end - have budgeted & have a complete list & will not deviate from that!!

    xx

Oh shame on me, CCA....I should have known that! Thx for the info saskia,
I am up to my eyes in DMP this, DMP that I just couldnt work out what CCA was!!
I dont know much about your problem or what the best thing to do is, I am sure someone will be along in a mo with an answer, maybe the Financial Ombudsman? I am sure it can be taken further. Dont be put off by the letter, good luck with it.

Also, I am VERY impressed with your organisation for the Xmas pressie buying! Well done!

  • Hello Drpellypo, It is hard at the start, isn't it? Probably the shock of it all, the phone calls, letters, and worst for us, finding out how much debt we were actually in!
My OH is becoming really thrifty! He went out last Sat, and came home with food all reasonably priced, and 3 bottles of wine for a tenner. Boy, am I gonna spoil him come Nov 2014!!
